Hi everyone,

I was wondering what it takes to create home made decals?

I looked around on Dakka and didn't find a satisfactory answer.

I would appreciate some direction

You can buy a decal kit from a hobby store or arts and crafts store for $15. Or you can go online and buy the paper from ebay for cheaper. Either way you just need the decal paper, a computer and a printer. Most printers do not have white ink so you will need to avoid white in your decal. Other than that it is really easy to do.

Note:
Home made stuff Decal paper comes in two kinds - laser and inkjet. It's important to get the RIGHT one for your printer. The wrong one won't work (best case) or will gum up your printer (worst case).

Inkjet film HAS to be varnished before use, to lock the ink down onto the film - otherwise, when you go to soak it off the paper, the inks will just run.

Laser film does not need to be varnished (it bonds the toner TO the film) before use.
