Do you have a color you like over any others? I did one up in black, grey edge highlights, and all the sunken bits a pink glow. it looks cool.

Because necrons are the most boring models ever made

I never liked them but I find their white scheme with blue looks cool. Or paint them like Egyptians. Personally I say avoid metallic. It makes them look cheap over an advanced compound look. Something like this:

Just with a trim of your choice.

see, that's the thing. I will never be good enough to do the standard scheme, and all of the alternatives I have tried just looks... lacking..

Blue and Purple!

I didn't really like the standard scheme, so decided to go with something completely different.

Some people might consider this cheating, but have you thought about using army painter? Using one of their colored primers, hit afew extra details by brush, and then hit them with the dip? Quick and not too difficult.

It really depends on your skill level.
I just helped my buddy paint up some of his necrons he just wanted a basic scheme so he went with mostly Leadbealcher and then Brass scorpion for accents.

Super simple yet very effective. Simple heavy drybrush of leadbelcher then layer on your brass then do your green accents and some highlights.

I've always liked bone colored schemes on Necrons. You can get 80% of the work done with a white undercoat and a couple thin sepia washes.

I like it. Are you going to use that blue for the glow of the weapons and eyes? Also, didn't you paint your 'Crons (is that the abbreviation?) already?
