In this thread i will post updates on my board and/or my army once a week. The board is very muddy, with trenches and mud. Did i mention there's mud? The WIP army is also muddy, so it looks like it belongs on the board.
Cadia's Mud (New name needed)

The board:
The board used to look like this(Note that this is only one sixth of the board):
Spoiler:

But it looks like this now(Note that this is still only one sixth of the board):
Spoiler:

The WIP army:
I'll start with a squad that i painted before i started on the board, they don't look as good as my other miniatures.
Spoiler:

A chimera that i painted around the same time:
Spoiler:

A more recent mini:
Spoiler:

Basilisk:
Spoiler:

A converted Salamander:
Spoiler:

If we combine my minis and my board we get this:
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Like i said earlier, i will update this once every week. Feedback is appreciated!

I was looking at your thread over in P&M - glad you moved over here!

For feedback: I really like your board. It's dirty, grimy, realistic, and the detritus scattered about is really nice. Do you have plans to add any non-Tau stuff to it? Dead guardsmen, skeletons, maybe a burned out Chimera?

For the army itself, it looks like a decent start. However, the colors seem fairly shallow - there's not much in the way of highlights or shading, although I do see a wash on the infantry. I'd do a a drybrush of the tanks in a lighter green before weathering to bring out some of the raised details, and look into some simple line highlights or layering for the infantry. You've got some good stuff here, I look forward to more!

That mud is wonderfully disgusting - it looks like the minis will sink into it. Great to see some dead Tau too!

What are your plans to add LOS-blocking terrain?

I only have tau so far because i tried to start an army in 2009, i was young, impatient and inexperienced. My minis ended up looking horrible. So i took a break from 2009 until the end of 2013. That's why theres only tau atm, i used my old minis.
I'll add a few dead guardsmen, and something bigger than a chimera (no, it's not a superheavy).
I'll try to add line-highligtings on the infantry, but it'll be harder to drybrush the already weathered tanks. but I'll definetly do that for other tanks in the future!
Thanks for the feedback!

I'm thinking of adding one or two Bastions iwth Aegis defence lines in the middle of the board. Other than that, burned out tanks and an old building will probably block LOS.

I especially like the mud on the top of the treads of the vehicles. It's a great detail.

It's lacking dead Cadians and Skulls Everywhere (TM), where is your tub of dead Cadians

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

Don't worry, the dead guardsmen are coming (sometime in the future).

Update 1
I figured I'll update every saturday, there is a lot of stuff this week. Do not expect me to finish this much other weeks.

I'll start with a small improvment of the vehicles. I thought the mud on the vehicles looked too clotted up, so i added more mud. You might not think it is an improvement, but i do.
Chimera:
Spoiler:

Basilisk:
Spoiler:

Should i glue this guy to the back of the Basilsik? (I know that the shell he's holding doesen't look like a shell.)

I made a little progress with my guardsmen as well.
Spoiler:

Basing my guardsmen:

Base finished:

I attempted to line higlight one of my guardsmen, my camera is not very good, so It's hard to see:

It is my first attempt ever at line highlighting, what do you think?

Now for the board:
Spoiler:

Started to work on the second sixth of the board:

Trying to make it look like tanks have rolled over the mud:

Fillign the gaps between the planks:

Everything so far:

that's all for this update and this week. Feedback is as usual very appreciated.

Perhaps It's hard to update with enough content every week. Should i update every other week instead?

Update whenever you like / can, you don't have to put everything in spoiler boxes either .

Really nice work! The trenches are looking pretty cool so far.
I think there are few tutorials / help guides if you want any more tips and ideas in the tutorials section.
