Having just got back in to the hobby I decided to revamp my Imperial Guard/ Astra Militarum. Its all based off the Helghast from Killzone 1 with elements drawn from Killzone 2 as well.

This is a try out for a Leman Russ Vanquisher with Heavy Bolter and Heavy Stubber.

It measures at 21cm (8.5 inches) long by 15cm (6 inches) wide by 10cm (4 inches) high, I know its large than a normal Leman Russ, But is it too big???

My only really excuse is that its a hover tank so the extra size is for the necessary technologies, Although this has no effect in game and is played as a standard Leman Russ

Nice but too big.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Its pretty cool looking but game wise its too big, i play IG as well and i wouldnt let you use that as a russ, maybe a baneblade. its gotta have the same profile to be able to be used as a proxy, you dont use a space marine to proxy a dreadnought

If I Used a 1:48 scale tank as the basis for the LR instead of a 1:35 I could get it to 15cm long 10cm wide and 7cm tall, would that be close enough to proxy??

Yea, been researching and it is far too big, I will have to put it aside and might mod it a bit later on to become a shodowblade, I will try a 1:48 scale challenger tank to try and get something alot closer to a LR, what would the tolerance be on it though, with in a few CM or dose it have to be bang on to be a proxy?

i would just say pretty close, it doesnt have to be spot on but fairly close.

Awesome but looks more like a baneblade. Really nice work anyway

I have tried again working from a 1:48 challenger tank, and have managed to get it to 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) wide, 15 cm (6 inches) long and 5 cm (2 inches tall) I will try and get a pic up when I can get my hands on my camera. is this close enough? I hope, I can't see how I can get it any smaller without it looking ridiculous.

I'd let both fly tbh. It's not hugely different than people who build ragnaroks & count them as russes or true scale SM armies. The russ is undersized anyway. I've seen conversions using all manner of kits so by all means. Besides the first kit isn't that big. At worst it's a macharius or malcador. And the guy who made the comparison of a SM as a dreadnought that's just stupid. 1: it's the complete opposite issue & 2: bigger means easier to see, easier to shoot, & harder for it to get cover saves.

Thats somewhere between a Russ and a Baneblade dude lol. Give it a good paintjob i'd let it fly but its bound to hurt you more than help since now its easier to hit lol.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
