I'm hoping to start a Tau army soon, and really want to do a futuristic White, Orange, and Black color scheme. I've created two potential paint schemes using the bolterandchainsword.com interactive fire warrior painter. Any thoughts/opinions on these? Feel free to post your own Tau creations, I'm always looking for inspiration!

I'm leaning more towards this one.

This is the alternate scheme. I'm worried that there is too much black on this one.

Well if you worried about too much black on there, you could highlight the edges in like a dark / medium grey to bring it out to make it stand out instead of being plain black base

What I do to other models if they look a bit bland

With highlights that second scheme would look great, imo. However, as always, YMMV.

It's all in the rolls.

That is true there.

I got a commission of a Tau battle suit to do sometime next week or so which is mixture of blues for armour sections and any that isn't showing is darkened metal with faint grey highlight (but not sure until model is seen in front of me)

Second one w grey highlights would stand out more imo. White is hard to highlight and shade believably so ur model will look somewhat underdone if you go w the first pattern.

Both schemes look good and perhaps the first scheme with an end wash to give a "dirty" look might be easy with the use of a white primer. Now I want some candy corn!

I prefer the top one visually, but it would be the hardest to paint.

As noted above, it is hard to give white depth - I'd be kinda tempted to paint it wolf grey or something then highlighting up to white for the depth.
