Jumping jesus catfish batman! Amazing stuff on that thread, certainly inspirational but some of it is utterly out of my league.... or is it.. To the drawingboard!

Don't put yourself down like that. Whilst there are some truly insane projects on there, I think the work you're doing now is also quite inspirational. You're moving beyond the existing ranges and just play with works for you.

Hopefully the inspirational stuff will give you some ideas. I've seen some amazing escorts being made from swords, bolters, old Dark Eldar helmets, space marine backpacks, etc.

Oh yeah, check your PM!

I have set myself some restrictions to modeling when i make new models for gw games. They have to be primarily gw parts, otherwise i dont feel like im playing one of their games anymore.
I know it´s a strange sentiment, but otherwise the models dont feel right to me.

More or less yes. You can look up some of the conversion info on the thread i linked between the first and second set of pics.

Maybe you should start a thread in the modelling blog section and have the WIPs and finished ships in a single thread rather than spread out like this.

Never took any WIP´s of the others sadly, im not in the habit of documenting my work like that I might start to do so however.

They look great. Scratch building models in that scale with soo much detai is not easy, and you have excelled at it.

Thanks mate Appreciate it. The binocular turrets turned out quite nice, and i find that they look more powerful then the bfg ones.

The flightstands are standard gw ones, så basically that should give you an idea. Where you looking for exact measurements?

You are just full of candy aren´t you Some of these are really cool, but most have the "easily-recognised-parts-ruining-the-illusion" syndrome.

I know what you mean, I guess that's the tricky part when using 40k scaled bits to make these ships.

Now those are pretty nice aswell, though i don´t see most of them entering my bfg collection. It´s hard to define a good bfg ship and what fits in.

Have to say, this work is exceptional. I honestly wouldn't guess they were scratch built if it weren't in the title!

I do use a bit of it at times, but if i use too much i feel im moving away from gw models, and that gives me a feeling of drifting away from what makes it bfg. I know it sounds silly to have a need for branded parts.

Thanks I take that as a huge compliment.

I get the whole thing of using GW bits. In a way it's a challenge which makes the whole creative process very interesting. At the same time it could be rather limiting as well. Look up the ships made by Mangozac from Resin Addict for example. Not a single GW bit used, but oh so BFG.

Not saying you should move in this direction because I really love the work you're putting out.
