About to start painting up some zombies and wondered if anyone had a great color cobination for painting zombie flesh. Was thinking of using a light green base coat, then a flesh wash, then high light with a grey or light purple.

VGC Dead Flesh or one of the equivalents. Look at the compatibility chart if you wish to use another paint range. I think flesh wash is going to look weird over a light green as its a (usually) redy brown. I think perhaps a nuln oil. Though i will admit, Ive never painted zombie myself. Good luck.

Flesh wash would be terrible for undead. It gives the idea of the inner warmth, which zombies obviously don't have. Green or some other cold colour would be better for a wash.

I would suggest that a basecoat with a flesh colour mixed with a medium olive green, then shade with deeper olives and purples.

Highlight with a pale flesh colour, maybe with a touch of blue in it.

If you need a specific recipe, suggest you get in touch with Arcane Paintworks on Facebook. She may be able to provide a clearer, and more professional, recipe.

It depends on the kind of zombie you want. Flesh wash is okay if the zombie is recently dead. Sothink first how your zombie died, how long has it been dead, etc.

Some good tutorials. Hope that helps.

i usually do a green basecoat, old school rotten flesh, then a green wash, then a yellow wash. this gives more of a chemical look though so may not be best suited for wfb, although you could try a purple wash instead of yellow?

For something really quick you can just do a white undercoat, something like Catachan Green heavily thinned and then a Devlan Mud (Army Painter Strong Tone) wash. Quick and effective for a horde of zombies, though maybe not as sexy as some other suggestions, but I can pump out a full regiment of these guys in an afternoon:

For some reason I prefer green fleshed zombies.
