Hey guys been doing some research and come to find out its scientifically proven from posts here included that the GW dice are not good...so trolling aside and people who know what I'm talking about, can you point me to some good dice that could go along with my dark angels? Only need is not too big and to be cornered not rounded. Like casino dice...

Thanks in advance!

Chessex. They come in a range of sizes, styles, and also look good. I went with ones basically the same size and shape as the GW ones since I really just wanted better looking dice.

Can also have them put a design over the 6 I think.

Thanks for reply. But was looking for square corner dice. The rounded corner ones your using are built very unstable and non random. The ones are proven to roll more, 30% to be exact. Neways, I found some and will post the find after I receive then next week and hopefully will help others in the search for better and truly more random dice rolls.

You are after CASINO dice, then.

I don't tend to use them (because they tend to do numbers on terrain, tables and models if you aren't careful - and they tend to need a "long throw" area to get the best rolling.

Casino dice also have their own rolling characteristics, which is why in casinos you are generally required to bounce them off a wall and over a line for the roll to count.

(just rolling onto a flat surface, it is actually EASIER to manipulate the results you want. Hence casino rules on them).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I use Koplow square cornered dice which I get from the Dice Shop in the UK (but I'm sure you can buy them from somewhere in the states).

@chromedog, I'm curious about your "long throw" comment - can you drop a link with some details on that?

I have several GW dice with 7's on them, so yeah they are not the greatest.

Gamescience.com sells "precision gaming dice".

Because a component of drag characteristics is how the leading edge contacts the free stream.

In this case, a rounded die would have less drag than a cornered die (Less separation of the boundary layer from the die)

This means, as the die is slowing down, in an thermodynamic effort to rid itself of the kinetic energy, a rounded die will have more time to equilibrate itself, when compared to a squared die.

The result is that a square die will be more random, as it doesn't care about the ever-so-slight weight differences between a 1 and a 6

I went into a local store to inquire about the possibility of acquiring some more-fair dice. The guy talked me out of it after it came up that it was for WH40k.

His reasoning was that if you're playing WH40k, you're not the kind of person who cares enough about fairness and game balance to really need precision dice. Because WH40k isn't a balanced enough game to appeal to that kind of person.

Besides, rolling more 1s means you make Leadership tests more easily, and your enemy fails more armor saves.

Casino dice (aka precision dice) are designed to be thrown a long distance and bounce off a bumper to guarantee randomness. Not doing so is worse than just using GW dice.

Ordered some from Koplow and they are awesome. Kinda big but very nice rolls. Much more random than my sea of 1s with my few sets of GW dice.

The "Sea of 1's" is just a myth, on average your previous dice were probably more fair than you realize.

Yeah, I like mine. They have 12mm and 16mm versions, I prefer the 12 cos they are smaller. But, of course, I have both because you can never have too many dice!!

Truer words have never been spoken. I have a minifridge box filled with dice and it still isn't enough.
