Hey guys!

I'm hard at work on my ultra-awesome (if i do say so myself) Defiler conversion, and I seem to of hit a cross roads at the painting side.
So he's going to be a bright and vibrant purple, with grey abdomen, and the white with bronze trim of my chaos army.

Now, i didn't want to paint the legs in a silver, as i feel it may wash out the details, so i was thinking of a black with a metallic colour highlight, but wanted to get some thoughts and opinions from some of you. What would you do?

Images attached.

Love the conversion, metallic would look cool although have you thought about edge highlighting the black to either match the grey abdomen with grey, or the body with blue

Have you thought about painting the metal parts to look old and weathered. That way the metallics don't "wash out" the other colours.

Looks good. The problem is you choose a very dark color for the underside. The top need to be brighter than the bottom IMHO. If you find a way to highlight the underside the black legs won't be drowned out.

Sorry, i should have pointed out that the purple that is currently on the model is just the base with a wash - i still have about 3 layers of brighter purples to add, so he will be much brighter.

I had thought about a weathered metallic, but i'm still having trouble picturing how it may look with the rest of the model...

Perhaps i should try by painting one leg and seeing what it looks like - however i have been avoiding this as metallics tend to be thicker than flat colours, even when thinned, and i don't want the final to look blotchy after having to cover it up...
