If I knew, I'd tell you.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will be getting started soon but I just don't have enough money at the moment to buy some of the models... and Easter is soon and I will be getting some cash to spend. I'm currently rummaging through my bitz box and trying to sort my camera out. And by the Migs, I totally agree with what you're saying

Well, I've got my camera up and running and I am currently working on my first gangmember. I will post very W.I.P pics in about an hour or so.

Here are the first W.I.P pictures of my first gangmember. This guy is pretty much a "test" model. If you guys think he looks half-decent I will use him. Sorry about the bad camera quality.

Funnily enough that is what I have been working on. Unfortunately it is now too late to work on models because the only light I can rely on is that of the dining room (that's wear I set my stuff up). I'm not using the head in the picture.... and I don't intend to be using the left arm either. Do you have any other ideas?

Use some GS work on the legs to convert them into power armor.

The head looks like it´s the one from the command squad box? If so, it´s a good one. Hard to tell from the pics...

As for arms, those are tricky with large scale marines. If you´re going with regular marine arms, you need to bulk them out, and make them longer as well. Terminator arms are easier, but still need a little length, mostly.

Chest armor can be tricky too, cause it is just barely on the small side. In order to get the size right, it needs to be bulked out a bit, or you can use a cut down terminator chest plate, with a regular marine back piece. And a plasticard spacer or two.

Looks interesting, remember to be patient when you start on the greenstuff.

Happy modeling, will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Here is another W.I.P picture. I changed it a lot compared to the old one and I have worked on the legs and torso joint. The metal rods are bits of paper clip and I have to admit look a bit worse to what I wanted them to look like. But hey, it's my test gangmember so there might be a lot of changes. And once again the camera quality is crap.

Next W.I.P pictures. These are a lot better quality and I'm pretty impressed with what he is turning out to look like. The should mounted searcher, the helmet, the gun arm and the shoulder pad are just blue tacked on.

Wow.

The backpack looks really cool. But what is it's purpose? Is it a flamer backpack of some kind? What have you used for the shoulder mounted searcher?

I think that, if you fill the gaps on the back end of the legs he would look more like he was in a power armor.

What has happened to his arm? It seems a bit like he has broken it or something, but it might just be the angles of the pictures.

Otherwise really good job. Keep the modeling coming.

I shall keep an eye on this thread.

If I knew, I'd tell you.

The shoulder mounted searcher is a necron destroyer spine, and the backpack is the life support system for the gangmember. I will write some fluff on him later....
His arm is blue tacked on and looks a little weird in the picture. However the concept is- he is looking at his auspex and is just holding his gun to his side.
Also I don't want it to look too much like power armour and more like his life support suit thing.

oooohhh....

I think the life support is such a cool idea, but then you should maybe make it a bit more obvious. Maybe with a kind-of-boxy-thing, on the front.

Maybe you should put the arm a bit more down to the side, and straighten the gun a bit more to match the arm and hand.

Keep it coming!

Strangely enough I'm actually trying to figure out a way to make a life support "organ-box" type thing out of the com-link from the IG sprue.

Thats comeing together realy well, I think this is gonna be very cool when finished. What are you useing for sculpting tools? I have the GW sculpting tool, but I also got a set of 5 other ones from a local hobby store. They have different ends and configureations. I think I only paid like 15 dollars for them ( 7 GBP?) These turned out to be realy handy and you can do some wild stuff with putty once you figure out what each one is for! I also like the "life support box" idea, I picture it with tubes and hoses and wires running into plugs and ports on the guys body.

I use a simple scalpel hahah, GW clippers and modelling files. I like your idea about the life support wires and whatnot, but at the moment I am struggling to find somewhere to put the life support box. Argh!

Ok, so I have found a place to put the life support box, and have added some copper wires to it leading to "ports". Unfortunately the camera has run out of battery and so I can't post new pics for another hour...

Wish I could put that much time into my modeling, hell I generally lose interest after a short time, but I do that with a lot of things right now.

Any way, with that much time on your hands you should be able to get these guys looking great.

NEW PICS!!!

Here are some pics of my life support gangmember without paint or a decent base. The other two pictures are of my heavy weapon ganger made from a deathjester sadly though I found him painted... as well as the gun.... but oh well, I'll just prime over it.

Looks pretty nice, might wanna make the DJ look more Imperial than that other than that he looks good.

Something about the life Support Ganger's bolter doesn't sit right with me, the hand looks like its tilted to far forward on the grip making the gun look off.

Other than that with some gs touch up here and there they'll look fine.

Made in gb

If I knew, I'd tell you.

Trust me on this one, the hand is fine on the Life-Support ganger- it's the size of the bolter. You have to remember it isn't a bolt pistol, it's a bolter. And also it maybe because of the sword shaft that I used for the handle which runs into the backpack.

I'm not sure how to make the DJ look more imperial though.... any thoughts on this?

Some ideas from the top of my head are:

cut off all the Eldar insignias, switch his head out for something more human-like and make his chest armor, more IG.

But maybe if it fits with your fluff, use him as he is and be a radical Inquisitor and just use the jester as he is, and find out some good story about why he is there.

Just some random ideas I had at this moment.

Keep it coming!

More imperial bits, file off the obviously Eldar bits?
