Try reading the rules, both of this forum and English.

"Official source of information" ≠ Rules as Written.
I have never said that the FAQs should not be used as "official sources of information", which is what the 2nd rule of YMDC is. However, by GWs own admission, FAQs are simply their house rules, so by definition they cannot be RaW.

As such, my post was 100% correct. That being said, the FAQ doesn't say the Avatar is immune to Flamestorm cannons, so it isn't, even if you use the FAQs.

They make the game, their interpretation of the rules matters. It's their frikkin game for crying out loud!

I actually would argue that the avatar wouldn't be immune to the cannon normally, as there are a number of ways to attempt to justify either way so I'd actually go RaW here, even though I'm usually lord of the anti-RaW.

But, if da FAQ says it, that's just how it goes.

But, since the flamestorm cannon isn't mentioned, I'm still wishy-washy even with the FAQ. Maybe go to a roll of if you can't agree? Rolling is always fun

Again I don't know how many mods and other posters can help you try to understand. When you accept house rules as being valid, as does this forum for the purposes of discussion, that makes them genuine rules for discussion sake. Since they are rules, and are written, that makes them RAW.

Except that isn't what this forum does. This forum accepts the FAQs as a source of information, nothing more. Stop making up rules.

Furthermore, even if you accept FAQs as valid, they aren't rules, they are FAQs.

The tenants say both the FAQ and the Rule books are "sources of information", therefore putting them both in the same category for discussion on GW written rules. Henceforth, both are valid fact sources, and so both can and are used for rules discussion in this forum.

To which I agree.

As I have said already, by following the FAQ, the Flamestorm still affects the Avatar. By following the RaW, the Flamestorm still affects the Avatar.

Notice a pattern?

Q. Is the Avatar immune to wounds caused by incinerators, inferno cannons and inferno pistols?
A. Yes, as they are all either melta or flame weapons under different names.

Using this logic, wouldn't the flamestorm be a flame weapon with a different name?

I already pointed out that this logic is faulty.

How do you know a Flamestorm cannon doesn't fire rain and lighting and wind?

Simple logic. It is a storm of flames, not a flame of storms.

Exactly how many times does this have to be explained to you, Gwar?

We are not having this argument again. For the purposes of rules discussion on this forum, the FAQs are accepted as the way the game is supposed to be played. We are not going to have every single rules discussion derailed by arguments over the validity of FAQs that are widely accepted as the view of the people who wrote the game. This issue was settled a long time ago, and bringing it back up at every available opportunity serves no useful purpose.
