I'm really excited for this, going to be getting up at 1 am for the early bird pledging, but i really hope there aren't too many cheesecake models. I'd love a Kurganova without a cleavage cut away for example. I just want someone to make some female minis that are just kicking ass, not kicking ass in a girlie mag. Please please Raging Heroes!

Check out my new blog, full of games, and parenting and books and games.

Spart Games brought out their skirmish game. They posted lots of previews of very nice models. Reaction here was along the lines of "Shut up and take my money!". The models come out, and they're enormous. Like 32mm+ enormous. Bigger than even the most heroic of heroic sculpts. Interest drops like a stone.

Now no company should be beholden to GW and find themselves forced into making miniatures that fit the scale of GW's games. Still, scaling your minis outside of most other lines only harms yourself.

This is why we keep emphasising the scale thing with RH.

Aye, as much as I love the previews, if they are totally out of scale with 40K, I'd sadly pull back. The rule system thing sounds interesting, but much like Avatars of War, it wasn't the interest in their proposed rule set that had folks snapping up the figs.

Regarding scale:

As Kroothawk has mentioned, we have indeed paid close attention to your requests and have worked hard to meet your wishes.

We will also make sure that you are shown line-ups of minis from various makes for comparison purposes during the Kickstarter, to make sure that you know what you're getting into.

Does this help?

It would certainly help me, although I already have Olga and Malinka, and I love them. As long as the scale is around their kind of height I have no issues.

I must admit I don't have an Ivanka yet, but that's just a design issue, not a fan of the arm being up. I might get one eventually mind.

I only raised my voice as I seem to remember a mention of a scale above 28mm being mentioned ages back, but I was pretty sure that had been put to bed. The odds are you will be getting a fair amount of cash from me over this kickstarter, and then the Dark Elf one beyond it.

From what we understand, we think perhaps your concern is in the compatibility of Raging Heroes miniatures and old-school style minis.

If you look carefully at old-school minis, you'll notice that their proportions are very unrealistic, with very short squat limbs and super big heads.
These proportions can work OK for male characters, but they tend to come out as pretty ugly with female characters. This is because you can make a male character fairly muscular and bulky in a way that will work well with 28mm minis. I fondly remember some old Grenadier barbarians that were a perfect example of this.
However, you'll rarely get an old-school female 28mm character with a good-looking body because of this.

What we've been trying to do at Raging Heroes is to come up with proportions that make our minis integrate well with most of the ranges on the market, be they old-school or with ore realistic proportions. We think we've done that pretty well with the Sci-Fi Blood Bestals and with the Kurganova sisters.

All in all, if you like how the Kurganova sisters work with your army, you won't be disappointed.

If you have one of the Kurganova sisters, you can count of the Heroines of the TGG to be of the same size.
What we have planned to do is to make the TGG troopers a slightly bit shorter than the heroine characters. We came with this solution after comparing our sculpts with minis from other brands, and it looked like it would make the best integration.
The heroines are a wee bit taller as a way to make them stand out, something that you will have notice is a subtle trick that many miniature makers use.

Again, I hope this helps to clarify things...

What type of weapon sets will the models come with? I like the look of the Jailbird division (are they the punk chicks?) But I have no interest in using them as proxy miniatures for a platoon/company level wargame as a military division, rather as a skirmish gang game (Judge Dredd) as street punks.

So I am wondering if there will be weapon options for close combat weapons, pistols, shotguns, rifles, automatic rifles, etc, in a more generic/modern style, in addition to the Other Game Compatible Weapons that have been shown?

Looks like they'll fit well with Malifaux in both height and thickness. Not sure what I'll do with them, other than display pieces, but I think something will come up.

I hope those of us backing the Kruganova Shock Troops (the Rambettes are okay and I could go for a squad... maybe but I like armored troopers, and the Neo Prussians just aren't my bag) will have a chance to acquire the Kruganova sisters again, I'd really enjoy painting another one or all three sisters.

I'd like to get the sisters in not-metal too. I have Ivanka and she's awesome, but metal is icky.

I hope the rest of the models are not as tall as the sisters. Otherwise they will be too big for GW games.

I disagree, Alph. There will always be people coming in later who will ask the same question and we can always just point them to the .jpg of the relative sizes. Like WWX did.

This illustrates the "perspective" portion of scale. A few people myself included have said they own one or more of the Kruganova sisters and they fit right in with their IG army or what have you, others think they're too large. Can't please everybody in the end.

I do like RH's point about the heroines being slightly larger than the troops. It would also make me side with the people who'd say they're a bit large for an IG force as bog-standard, but as heroes they'd work well IMO.

DeadZone and delays wiped out any chance of me going big on this one, but if they offer some interesting options for Commissars or Stormtroopers I might make a small pledge.

Awkward poses? Check.
Lots of cleavage? Check.
Boob-cup armor? Check.
Pants almost falling off? Check.

I hope the models are better than the concept art. Though Ilsa Wolfenstein and Brusilla Lepic are interesting.

There are three different factions being produced, Melissa. There's still the Shock Troops and Iron Empire, even if you don't like the Jailbirds.

Yes, I'm quite aware of that.

I wasn't just talking about the Jailbirds, either, but of the entire range of concept art as a whole-- lots of generic, forgettable garbage with only two or three memorable concepts.

That said, the "Jailbirds" are basically an example of everything that I dislike about how most sculptors do female soldier miniatures.
