I always thought having wargear being further unique-ified would be cool...in theory. For smaller, elite armies it might not be so bad. But if the hoarde armies got some love in that department, it MAY get messy.

I can see where some are coming from. How can a sword be equally as effective as one's fist? Even in the example of Orks, who wield heavy chunks of rusty metal attached to a handle be as effective (or worse) than just punching someone in the face?

Again, I can see where it would make some things moot. If everything could hack through my Boyz's T-Shirts, then I guess there'd be no point in even being granted the 6+ save Our shirts be strong enough to handle even saw blades!

Give chain swords and power axes the ability to cut wood. A bunch of kroots are cowering in the forest. The squad of assault marines charges and cuts the trees down than flies away. Imagine THE HORROR!

I realise this is a joke, but not even THAT would make sense - Seen how narrow to cutting edge of a Chainsword is compared to the thickness of the weapon? It can't cut through anything with a build like that

I really like re-rolls of 1 to wound with chainswords. It reminds me of the old scything talons (although that was for hits), and it's enough to be useful without going too far.

Wonderwolf wrote:Twin-Linked is IMO one of the most counter-intuitive.

Background-wise, if you weld together two weapons, you should probably get two "impacts" on the same hit, but two "misses" if the shot goes wide. Probably something like "roll to hit only once, but double damage/re-roll to wound/re-roll to penetrate/etc... when you hit", etc..

Instead, it's the exact opposite. A re-roll to hit, but only damage once. It is the effect you would expect when you do not weld two weapons together, but shoot them at different angles. Higher probability that at least one of them hits, but (basically) no chance of a "double-hit" as they never aim at the same point.

Most of the time, a twin-linked weapon is one weapon system rather than two. It might have two barrels and might resemble two of the normal weapon combined, but it's really running on less than double the internal components. How I rationalise this is that a twin-linked weapon has a rate of fire increase that is sufficient to make a difference, but it's not double. This works out in the in-game math as increased probability of a hit.

The storm bolter is pretty bad, especially for being the iconic Terminator weapon that makes no use of their Relentless. It is also inferior to the much older combi-bolters used by Chaos Terminators (which are slightly worse at 12''-24'' but far superior within 12'', as they are twin-linked bolters and can rapid fire). They should probably be Salvo 2/3, at least.

Would REALLLY like concussive to change to on successful hits rather than wounds as it makes more sense.

That'd be nice. It'd make thunderhammers have a meaningful difference to powerfists.

There is one rule that is a bit silly on the tabletop (not wargear) that is never brought up, and that is shooting with fast vehicles. I assume that if I owned a gun and wanted to shoot at a road sign from a passing car, it would be just as difficult to hit said road sign going at 60mph in a 1L Corsa than it would hitting the road sign going at 60mph in a Zonda. Despite the fact the Zonda has much higher speeds.
However, if we move a non-fast compared to a fast vehicle 12"...

I think chainswords should get automatic 2+ to wound when attacking forests.

Also 5 AP. And attacks reduced to 1 if you use it on someone with 4+ armor or better.. to best represent the chain going dull and being broken or stuck in someone's heavy armor

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Mephiston's weapon. The "Mind Blade Vitarus" is an ancient relic, supposedly blessed personally by Sanguinius with a drop of his own blood.

On the table? It's a force sword.
