Thankfully when they Squat armies now they at least leave the profiles in. But they could easily still pull an Ex-Rah.

Honestly, I feel like Code One wants to be marketed more like a board game where you just play with the models in the Operation boxes and expand with new "factions" simlar to Shadespire. I think we'll quickly learn that its mostly an entry level product and not something that will eclipse N4 for existing players.

Nothing about the way they've described Code One makes it sound anything remotely like Warhammer Underworlds, unless your only understanding of Underworlds is "it's easy to understand how to play".

I'm just referring to the sales model, not the gameplay or anything else. Shadespire, Nightvault, Beastgrave are essentially compatible board games. Code One feels like its going to be similar with the Operation boxes.

If it is more of a board game, I hope that the Operation:word+word boxes contain a 3'x3' playmat, or 2 2'x3' playmats. Because a 2'x3' playmat is too small for 10 minis per side.
Vertrucio wrote:Thankfully when they Squat armies now they at least leave the profiles in.
That's not what squatting an army means. If the profiles are there, even if the minis are OOP, then not squatted, just neglected ( I guess the GW equivalent here would have been the SoB). No profiles and no new minis, too bad the minis you have are no longer playable, now that's squatted. Which is what happened to the Exrah.

Not really? They're basically a living cardgame with miniatures. It rewards collecting everything as there's universal cards that any of the factions can use, and you can play any of the factions against each other just fine. If anything, Shadespire, Nightvault, and Beastgrave are closer to different Magic sets that standalone board games as a sales model.

Right but the models are preset. There’s no list building in that area. That’s all I’m comparing it to.

In my local Aristeia has taken over from Infinity. Infinity wasn't exactly big, but it was the biggest game after the GW titles, but Aristeia is more accessible and has also reached a much larger audience.
Because MOBA games are more casual this probably wont translate into increased Infinity players, and the opposite has occured, but nontheless Aristeia is part of Infinity and I do think it counts, and it keeps the verse alive.

As a former SoB player, Infinity is a breath of fresh air. Small armies where each model can be a hero is great. You can make just amount any model/profile work and the balance is good. The rules are very complex, but we will how Code 1 and N4 trims them down and changes them.

I fell off the wagon a couple of years ago - I totally blame the arrival of children for that. Since then, there seems to been a lot of changes to army lists to the point that I'm only aware of half of the forces now.
If I happened to be able to get back into it in a few years time, who knows what it will look like? I'm not going to stand a chance of going back to tournaments, but I've got boxes full of minis and terrain that will be more than enough for home play, sticking to N3 rules.
The only problem that I can see is that Armybuilder will obviously leave me far behind; it would be great if I could get a static, offline, non-updating old school version of it for when I turn into a grognard!

Code One is being marketed as new and simpler way to get new people into the game and for retailers to stock product. Yet, because there are no Haqqislam or Tohaa or Spiral Corp support in Code One... I won't be able to help get new people into the game by playing Code One with them unless I buy another faction. So I'll just end up waiting until N4 and then if I teach anyone how to play or running a demo, it will just end up being N4 instead of the "easier" to get into Code One.. Seems really dumb to leave out Aleph, Ariadna, Haqqislam, and Nomads at release considering the amount of time that has passed since announcement.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains |

Depends on how long it takes them to add Aleph, Ariadna, Haqqislam, and Nomads. If they're left out at release but added, say, a month later that doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, if they're just trying to get a more focused set of public test data on the factions that have a more general distribution of unit types before bringing in the more skewed sneaky light infantry-reliant factions.

The second 'wave' is supposed to be August or September, and the first one is April or May.
That said, Code One is supposed to be nothing more than a 'simplified version of Infinity' with some of the WarCors continually saying "it's like the starter set rules, any idiot can play".

Soooo...... they are just going back to the mark 1 original version then? i still have those books to in fact i prefer them over N3, still more complex than say 40K but not overly complex like the many pages of hacking rules for N3.
