Hi all,

I just recently got to talking to someone on Facebook who'd made painted an awesome Deff Dredd using military modelling type techniques. The Dredd really inspired me, not only was the weathering great on his model, but the model itself looked so much better than when I used to game...really chunky, aggressive. I immediately wanted one!

Sadly I'm a married man, and the cost of a Dredd was met with a scowl that would've scythed through two feet of reinforced concrete.

Skip forward 3 or 4 weeks and I am painting Ork Killa Kans!! the cheaper little brothers. Unfortunately the moment I cracked open the paint pot I got drawn back into the 40k universe big time.

This was the first Kan, on which I decided on my processes and colour choices. I have two more, I will be filming those ones for my channel. I was hoping to capture a feel of rusty old JCB earthmoving equipment, but in keeping with the universe I also threw in some Orky touches - gloss oil stains on the engine, plus a hefty amount of 'Umies blood on the...well, I don't actually know what that is. Power claw?

Sorry about the poor quality pics they're straight off the bench on my tablet

Hi, thanks for your comments

I am an airbrush painter, so that's how it was applied. The yellow is flash gitz yellow from Citadel, but its applied over zandri dust. This in turn is misted over a set of rust colours. In between the rust colours and yellow there is a layer of hairspray to begin the chipped paint effect. I will be doing a video on the other 2 cans to follow up the whole process, if I wrote it down it would sound complicated but it's really quite straightforward.

I have just finished it today and based it off.
