Going for a new color scheme for the other half of my SM army. THougts?

You could reverse the colours but that's predictable. Have you thought about doing a really dark blue, a few shades above black, I have wanted to try that was going to get some testers to try out some schemes

This maybe a non option but you can pick up three space marines for like £6 (don't know your price equivalent) add some spare bits and just test.

Brighten up the red with a layer, and only shade the recesses of the shoulder pads, keep the flat surface bright.

Eventually I will get around to drills and the like. Actually not blood ravens and I want the very dark red. and I did not use a shader on the pauldrons. just gold metallic. I was thinking of using old blood red over this darker one as highlights on the knee pads and such
