I'd rather not.... it's VERY counter intuitive, and would provoke a lot of debate that's 'pre'settled by the content of the video.

The title is a pretty good synopsis, and the Miranda speech is a pretty good summary as well.

At a Place, Making Dolls Great Again

I have been a law biding citizen my whole life and on several occasions have been profiled because I guess I'm a young man walking around places sometimes.
I have and will never trust the police. I am always thinking they will beat me for some made up charges or something. What's stopping them?
I don't fear the common thief when I go outside, the gangs or the drug dealers, its the police I fear. And it's only the police who have ever harassed me.
I will never associate with anyone who is one.
Suppose I could lump military with them too, I don't exactly trust the army either, but they've given me less to be fearful of, I am just generally weary of them. As I would be with any large group with assault rifles.

TL,DR:

Law professor: always use your right to remain silent, anything you say can make you look guilty even if you are innocent, while anything you say that might make you look innocent will not be allowed in court. Therefore the best possible outcome of talking is that you don't make your situation worse, you can never actually improve anything. So STFU and don't take that risk.

Cop: everything he just said is true, thankfully most criminals are too stupid to listen and always say things that send them to jail.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Thanks Peregrine.

Yep, agree. Same when having had an accident with your car. NEVER talk to the police or even admit being guilty.

I once got fined for not having a working light on my bicycle. It was not my fault, my light was just fine, but it was very snowy and there was snow between the wheel and the dynamo, which prevented it from working. No one had a working light, because everyone had the same problem. The police were just standing along the road and fining everyone. And when I protested, they almost gave me a double fine! Since then, I have always hated the police. Sometimes it seems the police is actually worse than the criminals they are supposed to protect us from. A good police force is necessary for having an orderly modern society, but all police officers should be actually good people, not a bunch of unreasonable jerks whose only task seems to be stealing money for the government with unreasonable fines, making up fake charges in order to get people in jail and infringing on your privacy.
Also, bicycle lighting which relies on a dynamo won't work in the snow. Better to use battery lighting instead.

I once got caught going 30 over the speed limit with no registration or insurance, and the officer let me go without a ticket.

A police officer almost gave me a fine for walking. Because I was walking threateningly with a backpack on. (Please note I was training for a hiking trip)

Another time my parents were driving and their glass was cracked. We took it to a car person who fixes cars and said that it just looks like it will break but it won't unless someone willingly throws themselves at it. A cop sees the broken glass and fines us.

Another time a police officer threatened a 10 year old who wielded the terrifying water gun. Not spray painted just a regular water gun. Like a super soaker. Because the officer felt threatened.

Another time a cop gave me a high five because I made a funny joke.

See the thing is that they are just people given power. Those with power usually abuse it. Very few can resist it. Such is the curse for giving the Police powers to do basically anything they want as long as they have a reason to do so.

I ran a red light when the turn only lane I was in didn't turn green at the same time as the straight lane next to me that a cop was sitting in. Got part way thru and realized what I just did, was too far in to go back and there was zero cross traffic so I went the rest of the way thru and pulled right to the side of the road. Cop pulled up behind me, got to the window and laughed at me a bit for jumping the gun. Checked license and registration, no harm no foul, and let me go with just a verbal warning. Man all cops are jerks.

Was this in the city or suburbs?

Suburb cops are usually extremely ready to write tickets. City cops usually don't care.

You are making a general statement. And you do realize that Generally and Usually are synonyms of each other right?

You were doing this.

gen·er·al·ize verb \ˈjen-rə-ˌlīz, ˈje-nə-\
: to make a general statement or form a general opinion; especially : to state an opinion about a larger group that is based on a smaller number of people or things within that group

You were stating an opinion on a large group bases on small observances. That also is covered by this.

verb (used without object), dis·crim·i·nat·ed, dis·crim·i·nat·ing.

I was driving a friend of mine while on a restricted license. Got pulled over because some light wasn't working. When they went to check my license, their radio conveniently ''wasn't working'' and they just told me not to do it again.

Mate overtakes a 'car' in the middle of the night, breaks speed limit, hoons into a side road towards another friends house. Sirens go on, the car was a cop. He laughs at my mate and tells him not to do it again.

Drinking at a public beach, which is illegal. Cops drive past, make sure we have a sober driver, aren't causing any fuss, and are putting the bottles in the trash etc. Then they drive off. Twice at two seperate beaches on opposite sides of the city.

Truth. It's hit or miss with cops - their members were run-of-the-mill off-the-street schmucks like you and me at one time, meaning some are good eggs and some are itching to cause trouble. I've had tickets for going 5 miles over the speed limit, and I've been told "just slow it down, okay?" when stopped for 30 over. (Great cop, that last one. Hadn't seen my GF for 6 months, and was in the last 15 minutes of a 6 hr drive. Cop smiled when I told him that - sometimes it does pay to talk to them!) Some cops are all business, seeing guilty-until-proven-innocent in each person; others are laid back with fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror of their patrol car (seeing that set a good precedent for that day )

Moral: cops is people too. Some are just more Inquisition than others.

Sounds like it was your fault. A light that doesn't work still is a light that doesn't work. Get one with a battery for back up.

There is nothing wrong about generalisation, as long as you recognise what is a generalisation and what not.
Without generalisation it would be almost impossible to make a statement about something as you would have to list all the exceptions there are.

Thing is, in the States, if you are in a vehicle with out of state plates, you're a target... .While driving from TN, to WA in my old Jetta that had TN plate (for those who don't know, many of the Southern US states issue only a single plate) a cop in Utah saw my front bumper was blank, flipped around and pulled me over... Ultimately he gave me a warning for speed (I set the cruise control for about 10 over, it was the middle of fething nowhere, and a decent sized highway). But I know that in reality, my vehicle was essentially targeted because there was only one plate in a state that issues two plates for vehicles.

I've also been pulled over in Nevada, while driving a vehicle with Oregon plates.... The officer asked me where I was going to which I said "ohh, we're heading down to her parents' place and getting married"... Turns out my bride to be was from the same crappy little town as he was, so I got off with a warning.

On the reverse side of that "good cop" action, I was in the car as a teenager with my dad driving down one of the main roads in my home town (it's a road with two lanes for each direction of travel, with the yellow line turn lane in the middle....not small), it was fairly foggy out, but there was literally NO ONE on the road... my dad gets pulled over for "speeding" in the fog. Catch is, he was doing exactly the speed limit. If there had been any other vehicles going in our same direction, he woulda slowed down, but the female officer had a real problem with the fact that the driver had different plumbing from her, and so was "oppressing" her, so she was gonna get even and wrote a ticket (that was eventually thrown out)

The funniest story involving police is when my dad was riding my motorcycle.

I was on a 125cc at the time, which has L plates on it. Obviously when your wearing a helmet you can't tell how old someone is.

A police officer randomly pulls my dad over, probably because the motorcycle had L plates. But as soon as my dad removed his helmet, the officer apologised for pulling him over, got back in his car and drove off.

Except that is exactly the situation you deserve a ticket.

If environmental conditions make driving the speed limit hazardous then you must slow down to a safe speed.

Its actually a question on the CA driving test. "When is it illegal to drive the speed limit?: A: when conditions make that speed unsafe."
