Hello Dakka Dakka!

Its been a long while since I have posted. I would like to think that my painting has come a long ways since then, but I recently bought an airbrush so it feels like I am starting all over!

I am painting an Exocrine and I am forcing myself to use the airbrush for most of the model. This piece was done mostly in airbrush. I did 2 layers of a wash with a brush. That was followed by some drybrushing and highlights by brush. The eyes also. But for the most part it is all airbrush.

I was hoping for any tips on how I could make this pop more. I will attach pictures of the whole model just so you can get the just of the color scheme, but I am mainly wondering how I can make this cannon pop a little more.

Thanks for your comments!

Follow up after taking pictures:
Obviously he is not put together yet. The carapace and skin will get a carrobrough crimson wash and the skin will get an additional seraphim sepia wash. You can see some of my other photos for a general idea.

I was thinking putting a yellow or green glaze on the cannon or something. I am not sure. I like how the tip of the cannon looks. But the shaft is boring I feel like. Thanks for the help!!

Looks great - I do think, even given the fact you'll give it a crimson wash, that the skin needs some highlights, elf flesh or similar, in the raised areas, to give more contrast/more of a 3-D effect.

Sepia wash on the eyes so that it pools in the 'socket' a bit, deeper shadows in flesh recesses and/or brighter highlight as mentioned above.

Is this any better?

I put green into the little flesh slits. I did this on the plasma cannon and the rest of the model as well. I think that really is a great idea to give the entire model some contrast.

I also put the seraphim sepia on the eyes.

I put another wash into the crevices of the plasma cannon and I drybrushed the raised areas with kislev flesh. But I am still not satisfied with it. How can I make the raised areas pop more?

Looks like the shading in the plasma cannon crevices needs to be much deeper. This will make the other stuff pop more.

I did it twice with carborrough crimson. maybe a wash with a dark green? what do ya think of that?

I agree though.

The only thing that really caught my eye are the eyes, They look "flat", maybe give them a wash of agrax earthshade or gryphon sephia to give them some more depth. The skin tones are all very nicely transitioned and muted which is a style I like.

Looks great! Agree that the eyes need somthing, but not a whole wash but just make the outline darker to give them definition / boarder from the skin.

Can't wait to see the finished model!

Get your models on the table and looking good!
