This is my first post on Dakka, after reading for awhile now. I recently decided that I wanted a Necron force, so here are my first 5. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I can do to improve on them for my next set. Don't be too rough on me I'm fairly new to the hobby, and my only painting experience before this are the Chaos cultists out of the Dark Vengeance box.

For my method, I primed them black, and then based the bodies and the gun tubing with Leadbelcher, and the centers of their chests with Caliban green. After that, I painted a coat of Auric Armour gold on the gun details, and Warpstone green on the chest icon. Next, I washed the whole thing in Nuln Oil, applied another layer with the Auric Armour, and then washed the bodies in Agrax Earthshade. Following this, I drybrushed the model with Necron Compound, and colored in the eyes with Warpstone green.

Any questions or comments are welcome

Looks good, hard to tell from these pics, but maybe water down your washes just a bit, can't tell if the shine on them is from too many washes, or just heavy washes. Good 'Worn' effect in any case.

Only thing I'd add is a VERY light highlight/drybrush of silver on the faces, just to make them stand out a bit, rather than blend into the rest of the bodies.

What's your plan for the bases?

My only criticism is the hose color. If the rod in the gun is green I think the hose and power coils on the gun should be green to match. Still I like your yellowish gold choice so might I suggest these? They would match your scheme and set your Necrons apart from others.

Thanks for the suggestions, both. I plan on doing a sandy, desert type base for them. I'm working on a Egyptian-styled board, and want to make them match it. Just sand, and some skulls (of course). I've got a box of some WHFB tomb kings units, and I was going to use the bits from that to help base my units and decorate the board.

@Solis, that's a pretty cool idea. I've seen pics of people's forces that use those differently colored rods, but I've only really seen people use red or blue ones. I totally didn't think about using some golden/yellow ones. I might have to invest in that.
