Well I've been meaning to do this for a while but never seem to have the time. All in all it's cost me less than a pint at my local
Materials:
DHL delivery box
Craft knife
Baking parchment
Sellotape
3 lamps

I started by cutting 3 holes out of the box, I cut one out the top and one out either side leaving about 2" of the cardboard
I then sellotaped baking parchment over these holes
I then draped an image inside the box so it didn't have any 90° angles
I finally positioned my lamps, using my positional desk lamp above and just one either side.

All in all it's not perfect but I think it's improved my photos all the same.
What do you guys reckon?

Not too bad. Probably need a little more light from the front (not flash!) just to pick up the main features of the side the camera is seeing. The banner is casting a shadow over the head and torso.

What settings are you using on your camera? A lower F Stop setting might soften the background more and sharpen the model.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

You can also pick up a free photo processing program (the golden standard for freeware is GIMP, it is great!) so you can color correct your photos.

Even if you use manual white balance and other tricks, a little post-editing can still really help out.
