If you haven't already seen the Decimator article, here it is: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4981

Included, is a link to a card called Intimidation, shown here:

What you see, is a TIE fighter ramming into a Scyk fighter (from Star Wars Galaxies I believe), which was a cheap fighter produced in large numbers for neither the Rebels nor the Imperials, but for the Hutts, Tyber Zanns Crime Syndicate, and other various pirate/smuggler factions.... signs and portents of things to come?

Not really. FFG reuses a lot of artwork, and it's likely this artwork showed up, or will show up, in one of the many Star Wars RPG supplements.

I don't think FFG is foolish enough to rule out more ships. But at this point, there's a lot of other directions to explore.

Well, this wouldnt be the first time they previewed a ship in artwork...

It also could very well be yet another independent contractor that will be assigned to one of the two factions.

I haven't been playing enough to know either way. But it would be sweet. I was just thinking at work, how cool it would be to see a Vaksai, which got me strolling down memory lane with SWG Jump to Light Speed.

while they havent yet announced the Scyk, it appears i would be correct about the introduction of a third faction

They have announced it, it's the M3a on the slide, well some to the OP.

Disappointed that we're getting a 3rd faction (even if I'm excited about all the ships), I had really hoped that the Scyk would just be a Rebel or Imperial aligned ship. I thought the way they had handled Bounty Hunters and Smugglers to this point was great, and allowed them to evenly balance normal wave releases for each faction. And before anyone says it, I'm just as disappointed and aware that Imperials still don't have a huge ship.

Well maybe they can be a stand alone faction or ally with the Imperials or Rebels?
I'm willing to bet they have upgrades in them that will cause me to buy them even though I don't feel much but " meh" about them other than the Y and Z95.

That was my hope, but after reading the announcement article that went up today I don't think it will happen.
