Hello there!

Since my last [failed] Painting and modeling thread, I've changed situations in my life quite a bit and I gotta say it's done WONDERS for my painting game. In fact, I've painted 11(!) models in three (count 'em, THREE!) weeks! Huzzah!

but with Nova fast approaching and my decision to compete in the narrative games coming at a very late time, I've decided to assemble and paint a full 2000 point army in two weeks! Well, to be more specific, 11 days! Sure, it sounds like a recipe for failure (again!) but in the off chance I pull it off, it will TOTES be a 'cool story bro' at the narrative! More huzzahs!

Now I will admit I'm cheating a tad. I'm running a Krieg armored battlegroup list from Imperial Armor Volume 7: The Siege of Vraks part three. That means that I'm basically just painting vehicles. And some cavalry, but mostly vehicles. In my own head, my army represents the last remnant of the Virtue's dedicated armored battlegroups that have been left on earth. So there is the back story (more to come as I flesh out individual units).

The next cool thing. I'm playing this army in a 1250 pt tourney this Saturday (8/23) so I've got to have that much painted before the tournament, at LEAST. The goal is to have far more painted by then though.

Here is what I've got in my possession:
-4x Leman Russ Battle Tanks (various types)
-1x Baneblade Super Heavy Tank
-10x DKoK Deathriders
-10x 40mm Secret Weapons Miniatures Trench Bases
-1x DKoK Artillery crew (will be the crew for my hydra, which leads me to...)

Things on order:
-1x DKoK decal sheet (FW)
-1x Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter w/ 4 hellstrike missiles (FW)
-1x DKoK Super Heavy Tank Commander and air filters (FW)
-1x Hydra Anti-Aircraft tank (GW)

I'm going to be royally screwed if that stuff doesn't show up before next Thursday. The Hydra I know I will have this week, and I'll be using that in the tournament Saturday.

So on to the pictures! Here is all of the stuff I've got. I've already washed the resin bases, and I will wash the Deathriders tomorrow or Tuesday.

I've finished up my test tank. I'm going for very easy to replicate, so the armored vehicles are simply primed grey, dry brushed with leadbelcher, metal details, barrels, etc painted with leadbealcher, weapons painted black, washed with 50/50 mix of nuln oil and lahmian medium. The tracks are all painted on-sprue with black primer, leadbelcher and a nuln oil wash. Once the transfers come in, I will wash the model in Agrax Earthshade to dirty it up a bit. I will eventually do more weathering on all of the vehicles, but for now I'm just going with fast and easy.

So let me know what you think! I can already spot a few things I need to fix on the test tank, but I'm happy with what I've got so far. Keep checking back! I hope to have updates up daily!

Well I may actually pull this off, although I've been cheating a bit....

My FW order hasn't arrived yet, so the Thunderbolt won't be assembled and painted by Thursday night. Bummer. I'm also still missing my Super Heavy Tank Commander and air filters, so my Baneblade will be painted but may be incomplete. Also bummer. I messed up washing the Deathriders, so I won't have THEM finished either. A third bummer.

BUT I will have 2000 points of painted stuff. I'll finish the Baneblade tomorrow, and I'll be all set. I'll have 5 Leman Russ', a Hydra, a Baneblade and a Knight Paladin. It will all be painted and I'm pretty durn proud of them!

Here is what I got done in time for that small tournament on Saturday. Yeah, I'm proud. Pat myself on the back.

So, I did in fact manage to get everything done and painted! Huzzah!

So here are some pictures of the army I took to the Nova Narrative and promptly got curb-stomped with in three of my four games! The Baneblade surviving in the fourth game (the only unit in my army to do so) managed to get me the win!
