I was running Abaddon in a unit of obliterators against someone playing GK. One one of the later turns the unit was down to Abaddon with one obliterator. Due to the movement phase, Abaddon was the closest model to all of my opponents squads. My opponent said that since he was shooting at a unit with daemons in it he got preferred enemy (GKs have preferred enemy daemon and obliterators are daemons). My argument was that all wounds would be on abaddon so he shouldn't get preferred enemy. My opponent got somewhat insistent on it, so I left it alone. Anyways, I am wondering your thoughts are about this.

Can't see obvious RAW but,

Abandon joined the unit of obits who are daemons. He is part of the unit, albeit not a daemon. Your opponent shot at the unit so gets preferred enemy.

I assume if clipped by a vindicator template you would have wanted to look out sir and then use the Daemon invul save.

Cake and eat it?

Vanished Completely

Preferred Enemy and "Mixed Units" lead to a broken situation that has plagued us for multiple editions now....
At this point in time that is all I can say, and for someone whom is long-winded that is very telling.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

It is unknown how this is supposed to work exactly.

As such, you will get the following:

a) Since the Hive Tyrants are part of an Infantry unit (and counts as a normal member of the unit for all rules purposes except where specifically stated otherwise), and you are shooting at an Infantry unit, then you do not get the bonuses from Monster Hunter.
b) Well the unit is a mix of Infantry and MC, therefore you are shooting at a Monstrous Creature and you get the bonus.
c) No you are wrong.
d). Your mother!
e) You are just trolling.
f) Yeah, well RAW I'm right.
g) Please concede and mark your posts HYWPI/RAI.
h) ENOUGH CHILDREN!
i) Mod locks.

But a lot of people I know play it as A (from the above quote).
YMMV, figure it out with your opponent if all else fails. The above just seems the most logical to me, honestly.

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.
