Here's my attempt at a Black Legion Daemon Prince. I'm by no means a fantastic painter, but I'm pretty happy with this. It's my first "fully finished" model, that includes a proper base.

I feel like his eyes should be more glowy, but then again I'm addicted to OSL in all my models so that might just be my problem. Other than that I like it it may not be the most technically done model but It yells grim dark and you can't go wrong with that.

Bi'ios, for a first finished model this is very well done. Congrats!

As for some constructive criticism, I have a couple of comments.

First, whenever you take pictures, I would recommend that you set up a simple background. Something like an open sketch book or sheets of white paper (something to make the background and under the model a solid color) really helps the model pop and lets people see the model clearly. Trust me, you'll get a lot more comments if people can see everything well.

Second, I think adding some more contrast for the next model would really help. You have black skin, black armor, and a mostly black base. It blends together a bit too much. Changing one of the three would really help bring the model out. Something like using a light grey (example concrete, if you want to keep the urban theme) for the base or changing the skin color to a dark red or bronze.

I hope these are helpful. And please don't take these are criticisms.

Thanks for the comments. I'm always open to suggestions and critique. I'm trying to improve, after all. I think a bit more contrast would help to make it "pop" a little more, and putting together a proper set to take pics in is fairly high on the priority list.

I just got this guy in the mail yesterday, and was really excited to do it. I like the daemon prince model a lot, and I was trying to go for a simple, but effective paint job. For painting the skin, I wanted to keep him dark, so I just gave him a drybrushing of gray over the black. I'm likely going to get a second one, and apply some lessons learned here.

Looks plenty good to me, I'd be happy to see this across the table from me. If this is your first mini, then you're off to a great start!

For a one day paint job, this is great! One idea I just though of would be to paint the skin between the wings a very light grey (like its half-transparent). That would be a way to add color without changing the dark skin tone.
