A buddy of mine asked me to paint a couple squads space marine squads for him. Took this as an opportunity to practice some freehand on the sergeant's banner. Never done freehand on a model before but I like the challenge. Not quite done with him yet but feedback and tips are definitely appreciated.

A bit dark, but it seems quite nice.
Again, it's difficult to say since it's so dark, but maybe - just maybe - you could try a little blending.
