I started on these guys the beginning of summer.

One of several Mega Nobs I built. With twin barrels, this Ork needs 2 ring sites!

All of the Mega Nobs use Black Ork heads and arms, with pistons and hoses added to the arms. The body/brown parts are resin castings that I made. The prototype is a a Black Orc body with lengthened legs, adding more armor plates, and a bunch of small pistons. The white is styrene plastic and the rest is from my bits boxes.

Underneath all that gubins is a war bike ammo box. I used this, or the war bike ammo drum, along with a Kill Kan exhaust pipe casting as the starting point for all of the Mega Armor power packs.

The base body is the customized version of a Black Ork. After cutting it in half, I cut off the shoulder plates and rotated them down. Extended the leg length by 3mm, using Nob boots. Added extra armor, using the Black Orc shields and bits from the old Battle Wagon wheel tread plates. I also added extra rivets using https://www.tichytraingroup.com/Shop.aspx Tichy Model Railroad supplies . And finally I added 6 pistons, 2 to the torso, and 4 to the legs.

These are the basic body parts out of the molds. The brown color is bronze powder that I coat the inside of the molds with. This helps reduce air bubbles, and gives a much nicer finish for painting. It was much easier to cast these as two parts. Plus I can rotate the torso a bit for more variety of poses. I made a silicon rubber mold of the body parts, along with a power fist, the 2 war bike ammo canisters, and a Killa Kan exhaust pipe.

The line up so far. The plan is for 10 Mega Nobs, in addition to the Warboss and Big Mek.

I had built 6 of the Nobs, and liked the power pack on the last one so much, I decided to convert him into a Big Mek. I replaced his right arm and added 3 power nodes to the top to make a Big Mek. I also re-detailed the head with more gubbins. I always add the head last to my models, as I want to make sure they are looking where the action is. The war boss was built last, as I didn't the plastic box set until September.

This started as a plastic Mega Nob. I widened the body by 3mm. Added 1mm from front to back. A further 3mm in height at the waist. And another 2mm at the feet. This was done by splinting the body panels, and inserting sheet styrene between the sections. The arms are Nob arms with armor and pistons added. The hands are pinned, and can be swapped with any of the weapons from the plastic Mega Nobs. The head is from the Black Orc Banner, with the horns shortened. The war boss was built last, as I didn't have the plastic box set until after I built 6 resin guys.

The white line down the middle of the back is where I added 3mm in width. This will be covered by a exhaust pipe. In the front it was done with 2 1.6mm strips inserted between the front panel and the side panels, on the side edges at an angle. The power pack started as a casting of a War bike ammo drum.

The Big Mek in Mega Armor started as my 6th Mega Nob, But the power pack was getting to big and extra orky. So I replaced the right arm and gave him a shiny Mek tool.

The head is from the plastic Black Orcs, as is the left arm. The Killsaw is from the new mega Nobs. and can be swapped to a Custom Mega Blasta or a Power fist. The Mek Tool/Power Fist is custom made, using an Ork chainsword, a hand flamer, styrene and a bunch of stuff from my bits bins. The Bionic arm is a KillaKan leg. The plan is to have Custom Force Field or a warp cannon thingy, that fits onto the three "power Nodes" on top.

The mega Warboss compared to the stock plastic Mega Nob.

As you can see, adding a few mm here and there really adds up. The Warboss is HUGE!

My scratched up Big Mek in Mega Armor, compared to a plastic MegaNob body. I'm real happy with how the resin bodies worked out. The came out to about the same size as the plastic . A good thing. As I started this project before realizing that the plastic was being released. And didn't get a set of the plastic until after making the resin guys.

A nice shot showing the back of the Big Mek compared to standard Mega Nob. You gotta love the satellite dish on his back. He's also got a spare power node tucked in under the pack. A lucky find, looted from some unfortunate Imperial hive.

Those are really sick conversions man. Love the close ups of how you bulked out the bodies.

Wow - seriously awesome! Can't wait to see them painted up. Love the use of random hardware. Watch parts mostly?

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.

Really nice work. What's that structured stuff you use as cables?

Thanks.
The parts are mostly small bits of hardware and electronic components. I've been modeling for years, but collecting these small parts for about a year. Some from old electronics, but mostly from electronic surplus stores. Computer motherboards can be a gold mine.

The silver cables are "snake chain " necklace. I bought some 1mm and 2mm cheap on eBay. Also "flat 1mm chain" can give good results. always sort by cheapest first.
