Just getting back into painting after a few years, wanted some feedback on this SM.

Any criticism is appreciated (aside from sloppy edge highlights! Working on that)

Also any advice on how to freehand a chapter symbol would be appreciated, I've been having some difficulty with that.

*EDIT* Also I have no idea why the picture is rotated, couldn't figure out how to fix that. If any one knows that'd be great!

I like the pose and the jet-black skin

Only things I would nitpick on would be to drill the barrel.
And take a thin brush and gently put wash in the finger-joints ect of the powerfist then edge highlight it.

I glaze my Salamanders with "waywatcher green" that i feel tones the highlights down nicely
Hope some of this is usefull to you.
Cheers on a stellar Salamander! FOR VULKAN!!!

All excellent points to look into! I mainly just want them to be "table-ready" and from arms length they look amazing. But if I'm going to take the time to paint I might as well try to improve and get better.

Thanks for the advice

The black skin isn't my cup of tea, I would rather use a dark skin colour. Also you could try to do the edge highlights a bit thinner. Other than that nice tabletop quality.

You should throw some highlights on the skin. And paint the service studs (above his right eye). And drill the barrel.

Looks very good past that. I really like your lines on the armors, very crisp looking and will really help your army to stand out at gaming distance (3 feet). They only look too much because your photo is huge. With just a tad bit more you've got some great table top marines.

Oh and throw some sort of light washing (like sepia or brown) into his mouth. Right now it's glowing white!.

I couldn't quite figure out the best way to tone that down - couldnt figure out what color to wash it with.

Thanks for all the good advice!
