So, I've been toying with the idea of starting a 30k salamander's army, but then I realized that I would basically be painting the same color scheme on more expensive models or a slightly different rule set. Realizing this, I decided I would do something bold. Something daring. Something NO ONE has ever thought of before. EVER!! I'M THE FIRST!!!

"I'm going to start a traitor army."

So I decided to do the Word Bearers, as I just finished their omnibus and really only cared for them or the Alpha Legion fluff wise, and started talking to my friend who has a full Mechanicum army. He showed me in the book how there are multiple groups within the Word Bearers army that specialize in specific tasks. One group is better at drop pod assaults, one group is better at fortress destroying, and so forth. The group I went with were called the Broken Scythes, who are best at Infrastructure destroying. Also because I believe this is the group that the unit known as the Ashen Circle are a part of.

The picture my friend showed me was of a marine in grey armor with tactical squad markings and heraldry. So I thought of a paint scheme for them and have given them a shot, while also adding my own twist. Let me know what you think.

It is a unique paintjob. I like the concept. I think the white lining/writing? distracts from the model a bit. When looking at it before zooming in I had thought you had used crackle paint.

The black lettering and the red circle work really well together.

Oh and that model is wayyyy to close to the edge of the table. Nothing good comes of models tempting gravity like that.

Now with 100% more blog....

Thanks, the idea was that these guys were either chanting litanies for the emperor before the Heresy, and chanting them from Lorgar's work after the Heresy. Either way they would write their litanies on their armor so I figured every model would have a few here and there, and each sgt. or special character would be covered in them.

Make some nice and cryptic runes, one that aren't directly chaos but creepy enough to make one suspicious.
