Well, I finally finished my knight. I love it so. Though to be honest I love doing basing and the lettering that you saw more than actually painting the knight. I have found I can easily run up several hours on basing alone.

Well, the lettering and base really gives it personality!
Exelent work on details. That banner between the legs looks really good.
All in all I like the feel of it. The pale and dirty blue and all the little extra details makes it look like its been at the front for a while, also reflected on the base.
I think it would look great along with any army.
Thanks for sharing.

It's a solid effort and the freehand is well done. I like the colors you're chosen as well.

A few things for cc, though.
1. The weathering comes across as streaky and kind of sloppy.
2. Drill out your heavy stubber barrels. Makes the model look better because it shows attention to detail.
3. I like the base, but I'm kind of unsure as to what's going on. The sandbags look odd because of scale issues. Believe me, I've filled and hauled a LOT of sandbags, and they're nowhere near that large. The crosshatching on them is weird too. They look like big loaves of bread.
4. Some better photos with more lighting might help. There's a few things I'd want to look at but can't really see them that well or don't have the proper angles. What is that white plume looking thing right at the front of the base?

Again, good job and congrats on finishing your first Knight.

Thanks for the advice. The weathering does need some touching up, but thanks for the tip on sandbags. I've been trying to figure out how to give them a burlap sack kind of look.
Also, the white plume was water effects that hadn't dried yet.

A really simple way to do sandbags is with green stuff:

1. Roll your mixed green stuff into a snake till you get it to an appropriate width.
2. Your hobby knife should have a "grip" area that's textured. Gently roll this along the length of the green stuff snake. The textured area will impart the burlap sack look you're going for.
3. Cut your sandbags accordingly, and allow to dry/set.

That is ingenious! Thank you so much.

If you want to use washes on a large area you really need to use an airbrush or you end up with the streaky finish you ended up with.

Kimchi Gamer is right. I airbrush all my washes when it comes to large surfaces; especially on my Knights.
It's a game changer in the way they look and does away with all the pooling/streaks you get from brush painting your washes.
