Hey dakka, today I finally got in a bunch of shipments from ebay . I'll start off by saying that this is an attempt to mimic the orcs from warcraft 1 & 2. Now I don't wan't this thread to turn into arguments pertaining to either Blizzard or GW, they're both decent companies IMO. They are closely related as in the beginning GW and what is now Blizzard were working together. This is evident in a lot of the artwork done for warcraft 1 & 2 which is what I'm trying to recreate. I'll post an image or two, sorry some are small, of the style I'm trying to achieve. This is also my first time working with green stuff, so I'll take any help you can offer! I did take a lot of pictures, I tried hard to capture the green stuff work, and i'll see if I can get some better pictures tomorrow. It's quite late here, especially with an 8:00am tomorrow .

If you look back at the older black orcs they have a similar appeal. I chose savage orcs because they were already partially naked, just needed some booties, head swaps, and shoulder pads! If anyone is familiar with spell crow, they create some pretty cool orc head swaps, I ordered some and they will be coming in soon. They're basically the mongolian styled helmets with horns. My biggest concern atm is that the boots look too big and cartoony, but I think i'll get the hand of green stuff modeling over time. Without further adieu here are the pictures!

I'm glad you like it darkness,

So it seems the universe is against, Got a pretty bad cut between my pinky & middle finger knuckles, took a couple stitches. Your pinky is quite an integral part of modeling & painting I've found. As such progress is a bit slow. here is the next boy in the unit, tried to make a harness for him, turned out alright, the front looks a little bulky.

Oh man, I remember poring over the artwork in the Warcraft II and Starcraft manuals and I remember that piece specifically. I hope you paint this Orc soon since I really like the look of him!

Also, fun fact: Andy Chambers, who was one of the major personalities at GW in the 90s and early 2000s, works for Blizzard and wrote Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty!

@Brother SRM, the companies are so closely related, but they did take different approaches in developing their worlds (one is better suited for a board game and one is better suited for a story based video game). Once I finish assembling this group of 10 boys I'll be painting them up, I'm glad you enjoy them.

Here are another two completed, i'll eventually be creating a blog for this army. Hopefully this isn't too pic heavy. If anyone has built savages before I'd be open to some tips on variation. I realize they are supposed to be a big horde of charging savage orcs, but the arm positions get a little repetitive imo.

If you were interested in this WIP I'm moving it over to my official army blog here. It will include all future conversions, not just my savages. Which already has a new goodie .
