Excellent start! Don't let the clean-up process get ya down. You've got the perfect hobby knife for it! It's well worth it and will make the painting process that much nicer!

Good luck! Can't wait to see the swarm all together. What HQ are you going to be using?

Get your models on the table and looking good!

I always liked hormagaunts.

I better be careful following too closely, I've got a big pile of old bugs culturing dust bunny hordes and no time to mess with them

Looking forward to paint

As a fellow Behemoth player, I'll keep an eye on this thread. Might motivate me to get a few more of the buggers finished.

I've used the Army Painter colour primers before and I highly recommend them. I think they're excellent quality. Never used the red one before but they white and black are both great.

Good luck painting all these little buggers.

Army Painter Skeleton Bone with a liberal application of Strong Tone ink, and Nid skin looks great in two steps.

Theres much more you can do with it from there, but for your 1,000 gaunts? Perfect.

I imagine the red will look just as good.

Those are nice, not bad at all. The big adrenal gland on the carnifex is begging for an off-color on the segmented/brain portion but really they look pretty nice. Good choice of colors.

Very nice. Just repainting my Nids and am having some trouble nailing down a scheme. Liking the red skin here.

Carnifex looks great. Nice mix of red, bone and grey-black.

If you want a colour that'll make them pop I'd suggest a nice lurid green. Throw some green on the adrenal gland brainy bits, the tubing on the gants devourers. Green eyes.
I think green would complement the red/black quite nicely.

Echoing the above, the Pure Red is a gift from above.

I use it for the base coat on my Sons of Orar, and now you're telling me I can use it on 'nids too...

I'm not sure though, having two red armies fighting would really... bug me. Subbed.

Oh? I have been trying to use Carroburg crimson 2x wash, with Army Painter Strong Ink (new version of Devlan mud,) it gives a supremely dirty look. I've not tried the next step but, I hope it works. I plan to go back on the main armor plates of my Space Marines with Evil Sunz red or whatever, and then hit it with a bright orange for a highlight.

Spoiler:

I have found simple metal washers to be the best thing in the world for these guys. I got some about the same size as the base and now they stay up right just fine.

I like it, a nice simple and effective paint scheme.
