Hi guys,
-Assistance required!!!-
My brother needs to make a ww2 trench diorama for homework,
and, as the family war gamer, I've been given this gargantuan task...
I've a general plan, but need to obtain some mock barbed wire!
Any suggestions for a place to obtain a small amount of cheap stuff that'll pass of as barbed wire for in front of a trench.
I'm in the UK, and would ideally be buying from Loughborough or Leicester,
or from somewhere within England because otherwise the postage will cost almost as much as the item...

Thanks in advance!

I had a bout of obsession with trying to get barbed wire for my 40k bases for a while.

You're options pretty much boil down to 3.

1. Get wound "barbed" wire. Basically a wire with a thinner gauge wire wrapped around it. It's easy to find, is cheap, and looks fine from a distance.

2. Make your own. This can be done with 0.5mm and 0.3mm-ish gauge wire. There's a tutorial here that's fantastic.

3. Get Secret Weapon Miniatures "Barbed" wire. It looks AMAZING from near or far. It's by far my favourite, and I got about 6 packets recently of the stuff. It's more like modern razor wire than barbed wire, but I don't know who'd really care.

Here's what it looks like on a model:

If you're on a zero budget, you can make ok barbed wire by carefully cutting up that plastic netting they sell some fruit in. Fiddly though, and needs to be painted .

You can try to make your own - takes literary 5 minutes and a band-aid(s)
Materials needed:
1 high end (reinforced pleat) USED air filter for central AC/Heat system
Tools:
pliers (vise grips)
utility scissors
corded/less drill or another pair of pliers/vise grips) - I recommend the drill
