After a bit of a hiatus from 40k I've relapsed back in to the hobby. Decided to go with good ol' Sparce Marinies. Working on some chapter fluff and just finished putting together my first five man squad. Nothing that elaborate but I'm going for minimal mods so I can get up and playing sooner. My chapter is going to be a little non traditional in that the core will be made up of a bunch of Scout Snipers units supported by armor and probably Terminators with a Chaplain leading the way.

Below are some pics of my scouts. I've been checking out alternatives to the stock heads because I hate th and decided to go with the Scion beret heads instead of some sort of helmet. At first I wasn't sure if it fit but then I decided that my scouts will be made up of veteran marines instead of noobs, like the Wolves.

Thoughts?

Will be posting pics of my progress and mods as it comes together.

Another concept I've been toying with for alternative heads but doesn't quite work as well with snipers.

Cool colour scheme, they look like Hammers of Dorn. Have you decided what Chapter they decended from? I also like the army idea, but you can't just have those Terminators run up the table while everyone else stands back and snipes. You need some kind of aggressive unit. Maybe a Tactical Squad in a Rhino?
Nevertheless, love how it's going.

Cheers. I was thinking of having an aggressive Vanguard squad armed with Lightning Claws to go and muck up enemy units while some armor and snipers fire away. Mainly I want some Terminators to act as a shield for the scouts. My plan is to field six five man scout sniper squads by the time I'm done building. Each with a missile launcher to hammer away at enemy tanks. I have a super heavy Devastator squad put together as well.

As for fluff, I'm not sure yet. Definitely thinking something along the lines of Imperial Fist successor. Maybe even a Raven Guard if I drop the Teminators in favor if some Assault Squads. We shall see.

Started painting the orange and it was rubbish so I switched it up. Not done but I like how it's coming together. Took some inspiration from British Military Uniforms.

Just made a big order from Spikey Bits today and when get it all put together my I will have 4 scout sniper squads, 1 crazy ass dev squad that is already done (see below) a chaplain leading the charge, and one ridiculous vanguard veteran squad with jump packs and lightning claws. Going to work on rounding it out later. Still not sure where I want to go with this. Considering building a bunch of assault squads and make them a Raven Guard successor and include Shrike or loading it up with a bunch of Terminators and including Lysander as a Imperiam Fists successor.

I went for the non beret Scion heads for my scouts personally. Another option is the Eisenkern stormtrooper heads, depending on the theme of your army.

I really like the second color scheme, think it would turn out nice. Also you have this in the wrong forum, it should be in the painting and modeling blog one.

With the power armour keep the paint scheme as close to each other unless you want your scouts to look different from your marines. When I was starting chaos SM I just painted everything different and I didn't like that. I made it my goal to make my space wolves as close to armour as possible, blue gray armour with a left yellow shoulder pad and the right is distinguishing to what they are.

I like how your scouts very good

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm kicking myself a bit because I want to do the power armor differently. Considered making it part of my fluff that the scouts don't get to wear the chapter's colors but on the table I think it may look a little...cluttered. :/ That and my scouts looks sort of Cadian-esque. Considering painting over their armor plates to mix it up a bit.

What you could do is have the power armour the same color as the scouts clothing than use the green on shoulder pads, helmets, belts, knee pads and the back packs.

Here is an idea, I tried to keep towards you original and I came up with this

Awesome, looks good. Thank you. Yeah I need to find something to work with the existing colors or just repaint the armor plates on the scouts.

Really cool scouts, really like them ! I was never found of the idea that space marine scout should be space marine noobs, I would rather prefer your interpretation. You almost made me buy one box
I don t know why but when I look at these beret the only name that cames to me for your chapter is: Sea Dogs...
Very cool job here ! Gratz
