Still new to wargaming on the whole, let alone warhammer 40k.

I did want to try my hand at building some random terrain pieces and bases. I am working with a limited set of paint, maybe about 10 but I'm slowly adding as I go.

I did use a buttload of cork but only because I had that lying around. I may pick up some foam board and try that for some stuff.

Ork skin looks pretty badass in blue! Would love to see those models finished.

As for the terrain, cork board looks great, barbed wire is rather disproportionate unless it was erected to stub the toes of a Khorne Daemon Prince, but if the large-and-in-charge look is what you're going for, you nailed it. Otherwise, you can pick up some model razor wire like this: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Etched_Brass/40K-BARBED-WIRE.html

I'm a noob myself so I'm sure you can get it elsewhere for cheaper.

I like the paint job on the fencing! I'd sprinkle some shell casings around on the ground to give it slightly more texture, maybe some grass tufts or weeds, and maybe throw in an oil drum or some sandbags. I'd go for all of them because I prefer overcrowding to minimalism, but I think all in all the ground could use a bit more pizzaz (that's an industry term).

Keep us updated!

my suggestions for the terrain are to get some cheap wall filler, some pva glue, some sand and some small stones. mix up the filler with pva and water, and you can use it to fill all those little gaps between walls, and on your bases. sprinkle sand on this for added realism and texture. use the stones to supplement. you'll find it makes your terrain/bases look a lot more realistic.

Thank you for the CC!! Yea i felt the barbedwire wasnt really the size it should be. I will be making more and im gonna try that wire you linked me. It looks good!

Yea i didnt want to go with green skinned orks and i felt the blue skin fit the frosty bases i made.

I will be detailing the terrain some more as i just bought the brownish grass tufts. The bullet casings are a great idea.
