I've looked at a lot of power swords online, and it tells me to paint it in different colors of blue. The problem here is that I play Ultramarines, so a blue sword on a blue space marine looks a little boring. It's not as stunning(visually) as say a BA with a power sword
I'm just starting, so I'd like to do it with minimal paints.
Here is a list of the paints I currently own.

With a few exceptions all you seem to have is blue. I've seen some nice power swords with ranges of green. If you wanna do that, you can start with painting on warpstone glow in a quick swiping motion on the sword to create the lightining, then trace the middle slightly thinner and centered with moot green, and then water down some white scar 2:1 and thinly draw a light center to the moot green. Should create a cool green lightning effect.
You can do the same with red by using mephiston red as your base, wild riders red as your highlight and then the 2:1 white scar for the hairline bolt. Yellow: yriel yellow base, flash gitz yellow highlight, 2:1 white scar.
Either way, if you wanna not use blue, you're gonna have to get other colors.

if you decide to do the flame idea from your other post, you can just mix red and blue to give you purple, if you don't want to buy a purple paint...
purple power swords look cool...
of course, you could always use the same red and yellow for the sword that you would be using for the flames...
cheers

Thanks for the idea - I'm probably going to buy some red/yellow to achieve a red-orange-yellow sword.
Thanks!

Agreed, purple powerswords look badass, especially if you feather in some blue and white along the edges. Soooo sexy. To me anyway :p.
You could always take the lazy way and use your leadbelcher on it with a dry brush of iron breaker along the edges. Ive seen some metallic power weapons that look alright. Or, if youre feeling ambitious, do the hard NMM style.
Also, seeing that you have some golds and bronzes (is that even a legit word? Haha) try using those. Play with your paints. Your metallic layers dont necessarily HAVE to go over metallic bases. Maybe gold over black? Or silver on black? Or silver on blue?
Just experiment man. You never know, what you through together mightvinspire soneone else.

Unfortunately, I'll have to do it the lazy way . . . for now.

I used blues, white and black for my sergeant's power sword - quite proud of how it turned out. I followed Buypainted's force weapon tutorial video.

really easy way to make cool looking power swords to to mask off half the blade lengthwise, then do black fading into blue and white, then the other half mimics it in reverse fashion. this example was airbrushed, but the same technique can be used for regular brushes. Pic isn't mine, just a example I found on google.
