I... actually don't know. Help?

Yeah, title says it all. Instead of paying a crazy amount for the FW version, I want to buy a SM Drop Pod and convert it.
Here's the plan (Look at the picture):

I want to cut off the top fins, glue them to the bottom, use GS to make various chaos-stuff, and add skulls. Lots of skulls.

Doable? Legal? Fluffy?

Assuming you mean the anvillus pattern dreadclaw I could see a few issues, namely the dreadclaw still has the top fins you intend to remove, and even if moved below wouldnt be comparable in size to the "jaws" at the bottom of the anvillus. For example:

Both have the stumpy top fins you suggest relocating, which are maybe 1/3rd the length of the jaws you intend to replicate.

I meant the CHAOS Dreadclaw, not the Anvillus.

You just said FW Dreadclaw, and the Chaos one was discontinued a long time ago :-)

Some people have done it by just flipping the fins over:

I copied this conversion: http://darkfuturegaming.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/diy-cheap-chaos-dreadclaws-part-1.html

The picture of the Iron Warriors Dreadclaw above is from this conversion.

I'm really happy with how mine turned out and I think it looks great for a third of the price of the forgeworld model.
