Land Raider Pilot on Cruise Control

So I recently came across the battlefleet Gothic rules online but lack the means to obtain models for it.
The Ork stuff I can mock up but could anyone be kind enough to give me measurements for most of the Imperial ships or some other means of replicating their dimensions?

All that matters for gameplay is the clear rod. All measurements to and from ships are made from the peg, or for some attacks to the flying stand itself.
As for general measurements, Escorts are usually about 2-3" long, Cruisers from 3-5", and Capital ships are roughly 6-7". But again, the model itself is just for the visuals, it has no bearing on actual gameplay.

We demand pictures of your finished models if you make them from scratch.
I would suggest looking up and finding anyone with old white dwarf mags with battlefleet gothic models for reference.
You can buy them. But they are really expensive.

If you ever want to make Eldar cruisers, use Eldar jetbikes. They're practically identical and the same size to boot.

How much is a cruiser of eBay nowadays? How much would GW ask for such a model if they would bring it out today?

Here is a gallery of comparison pics I took for a friend who was looking to do an Eldar fleet using various proxies from Firestorm Armada:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-28873-30014_Eldar%20Comparison.html
The Imperial ships are a bit beefier than the Eldar, but in the same general size range.

I took some quick shots of my (perpetually it seems) in progress space marine fleet for bfg. These ships are made almost entirely from my bits box. Here's a fleet shot. The album contains images of all the ships though some shots aren't great, I was in a hurry.
There's 2 battlebarges, 4 strike cruisers & 2 each of the resort classes. There's also an entirely scratchbuit ork fleet in the album as well. Lemme know if you can't access it, I made it public but my account is private. The barges size about right next to my emperor class battleship & the strike cruisers right to a dauntless light cruiser. The escorts may be a little big but they work.

I would say that you can probably get away with using Firestorm Armada ships and then swapping the square and rectangular bases for round ones - the peg is all that matters for measurement, but in terms of whether torpedoes hit you and such, the base does matter some.
I would also add bits and things to the FA ships to make them a little more grimdark, but other than that they should work fine.

You could always do like I did and use the Vassal sprites to play BFG with paper flat models. It's just too expensive to expand the couple of fleets I have from when the game came out, but with some modifying, I can field any race and/or ship variant other than Tyranids. The sprites are enormously well detailed for showing appropriate weapons loadouts.

I have dozens of the models - but thats an awesome resource
Firestorm Armada and ACTA models both work well and can usually pick up on Ebay

Yeah, I just used MSPaint to cut out rectangles around all the ships, so they end up being like the paper fleets that Spartan used to have for Firestorm Armada. They are definitely not as classy as the models, but you can definitely transport a ton of them to other locations to play, and they are (nearly) free to get onto the table depending on how you mount them. I also like how they all have the facing template sized to their relative base size, so that actually improves on one of the gaming elements.

I give you Battleship Galaxies, a game that didn't sell well enough for Hasbro to justify further support/expansions. Copies of the full game and the ships themselves can be picked up second hand fairly easily and often not as expensive.
