I know that kind of pain.

BUT! (Yes a big but), I have worked on the little guy some more, the armor plates for the upper/sloped deck. all those angled cuts!

After some trimming and such, anti-skid for footing plates added

With the turret on to show size compared to a Chimera so one can truly gauge it's size. Hatch panels for stowage have been added to the tank.

Afterwards, I added more details, tow cables, a cover rolled up, hinge rods, and other adornments fit for a tank.

I say go for it the next project you do for a light tank.

Wait till you see the write up, more a light tank than tankette, 3 man crew at 22tons. I dub her the T-43a.

You just have to wait a coup0le of weeks for the stuff to get there as Royal post is slow, but once it hits and clears US soil, BAM! it gets there. And the quality is good, very good, Treads/top hatch, and an engine vent are all Zinge made. I have to add my signature rivets before painting it!

That is a neat little tank. Get it a bit smaller and with more 'attitude' and you'd be in Bonaparte territory

Your scheme makes me like those Eisenkern guys more than I usually do, good work!

I dunno how I've been missing this blog, going to have to keep up with it. Yeah, then I go back a page and see camo-ed gundam sized mecha and super mutants. *on the same page*. Where have I been all this time!

I am a collector of an eclectic army is all.

speaking of collecting, I have more Nuclear sandlot goodies plus a Commissar "Not" Cain on the way in the mail, pics of them will follow once I get them of course. a couple of flying bots, one bulky tracked bot, a large fast creature that is the stuff of nightmares, and enough new Super mutants to make a squad of greenish Ogryn stand ins or just well armed big meanies out in the wastes!

Thanks, my scheme got adopted from other sources, and Cam did so on his scratch built Landraider!

Oh this little tank has attitude, and has received it's dose of my PVA rivets. Next will be the black primer.

Nice job on the rivets. That tank looks more believable than most GW stuff but, it fits into the theme just right. Between you and Gits, I am now really torn towards little tanks.

I am working on a MK1 LR, I don't know if I want it full sized as it used to be or tiny like that now.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you make your rivets so uniform? I always seem to glue them to myself, there has to be a secret to making and placing them without fething it up.

Thanks Cam! I always am encouraged by your posts of enjoyment of my model making and painting, and with time we all get even better at it.

My next embellishments on the tank will really make it more so as I am adding something for the inner drive gears so to speak.

I'm gonna need to order more bitz and plastic very soon for the other scratch building projects I have!

Hey there! LR for Land raider? or LR for Leman Russ? I will have to watch that project then unfold!

Ah well the fluff for my tank I am working on the T-43a is a 22ton, 3-man tank. The basic Leman Russ info from the 3rd ed book listed it at 60tons!

I do not mind at all, I even listed it, I use a canula attached to an old GW glue bottle, the white bottle from year ago, but any can do as long as the zap-a-gap canula fits over the tip. It is kind of like decorating little chocolates or baked goods when I do this. Patience and a steady hand and eye are needed, I have a little shake in my hands, and wear glasses, but I manage, LOL! As can bee seen, sometimes the control is a little off as seen in the slight size and shape variances, I sometimes scratch those off again and try all over with the "decoration placer"

Oops. New to the thread, that's why I missed it. Loved this tank over at Zinge's thread though.

I am wanting to make a Land Raider. I have no use for one actually since I don't care for Termies and the point cost is too high for me, imo. I was going to make it a Spartan but, I used the Spartan prow bits on terrain and though I was gonna restore it so I could use it for the tank, I decided I liked the normal one better. Then I realized I can do a custom front on it which got me excited about it. Then I chased all these tiny tanks around the plogs (started at the Zinge thread,) and since I have no use for a normal sized LR, and I have a Stormraven in the works I figured I would make a recon one. (Stole someones suggestion from this thread.)

So I basically tempted to make a smaller version of one that can be a counts-as tfc or vindicator. Something that can totally hang from a dropship or stationed on a Landship.

Oh no worries at all, it is a big thread.

Sounds like a great idea, a scout raider! you ought to do that, just the crew, no transport capacity, weapons, and then just for the job of recon and harass the enemy!

Thanks Biff, I actually took some inspiration from a old Soviet amphib light tank. I also plan upon making a 4x4 and 6x6 armored support vehicles for support. I have bitz on order, and plastic for fresh armor plates as I have run dry, and used the plastic sheets from the place Dave and Theo use for the sheets(Plenty of plastic crack on the way now!)

Now do I go like this?

or like? a more classical layout of wheels?

I was thinking a modernized Ba-10 like 6x6 armored car.

for the 4x4,,,,,,,Plenty of concepts

The first wheel setup is cooler, would be nice and keep a smaller profile.

Yeah! I was thinking it would be small enough for a crew of four, a pilot, Gunner, and two brothers that act as extra crew, manning the radio and getting out to perform minor repairs/guard it.

I am thinking it will only have two heavy bolters and the tiny frontal cannon that is hidden in a groove in the front, beside of an armored front canopy, and a small area on the outside box shaped rail to store bolters and the other one to hold chains and parts. Then tons of rivets. It will be my first time riveting. I feel like I will love it since I like making them. (And hate.) So today my girlfriend helped me shrink the plasticard templates from 100% to 35% of normal size I am going to the library to test print them.

I have some questions for you now if you would humor me?What is that golden grating material? It looks fabulous, and are those chain bits just the ones from a Rhino kit?

4 man recon tank sounds good, Heavy Bolters would allow it to handle armor 10 vehicles and infantry, but vulnerable to dreadnoughts. Maybe sponsons with single las cannons left over from devastator kits? or even Multi-Meltas, would at least allow it to handle unexpected heavy armored enemies. Hmmm, reduced scale templates sounds good

Another Dakkanaught helped me when I was strapped and sent me the bras screen that you mentioned, and the tow cables are GW ones I simply applied a bic lighter to to get the plastic to soften and bent them to the shape of the tank armor. The basic GW IG Tank accessories kit is where the cables and their loops came from.

I rather like the sense of community that we have here at Dakka

I had a long reply but, Dakka signed me out. Typing it on my phone now so forgive the typos.

Basically, these little tanks are taking over a few plogs Grim. (Littletower, Shas, Gits, and others.) Which means you must join us... if you say A, you must do B.

I wonder. If a tank goes pewpew do little tanks just go pew?

Anyways. I hope you don't mind the light guard idea stolen for my spotlights, do you? I thought that was a nice touch. Now I get what you mean about the cables. That is why I didn't reconize them. Learning a lot from this because this is my first time with plasticard.

As for our community, it is crazy. I have lots of lurkers on my plog as I haven't painted a thing yet but, there are a few like Gits who regularly help out and watch eagerly which keeps me going. And all the blogs I visit are helpful. I always get nervous I will come across as a kiss arse or overly aggressive due to my writing style (I have been told it is too stern,) and that one of these days someone will call me out on it even though I don't want to come across as either of those things. But, asking questions shows interest and helps me learn so surprisingly most people are not irritated and genuinely help me. It saves me frustration (and my wallet,) from mistakes. This is why I think Dakka is amazing.

Oh and I forgot to sub, so I went and did that.

Nice solid update. The tow hook is great.

Never fear, many here are helpful and will answer away.

So, all white plastic is basic plastic card stock cut and shaped.

From a fellow Dakkanaught: Bras screen

From GW: tow hook, cables, "muffler" was a chaos heavy flamer, shovel and pick axe and aquila on the front. Driver's hatch

from Forgeworld: Las cannon and auto cannon

From a Tamiya kit, the roll. Green roundel for air filter on back of turret.

Headlight I forget where it cam from.

From Zinge: commander hatch, treads and wheels, rectangular gray vent for engine.

Rivets are all PVS glue painstakingly applied.

And it looks like If I wait, I can make 2 6x6 armored cars

as for the wheeled tank setup... I think for your army a BMP would be perfect... the more futuristic one I think isn´t really my thing, when I think about your army...

Welcome Back Vik! Happy Yule to you as well!

Had to do the rivet thing with it , LOL!

The armored car will be a 6x6 wheeled BTR or such, even spaced wheels, but not like the Secret Weapon armored car as for one, I plan on a conical turret for the things as I am expecting some weapon bitz for Multi-Meltas and Heavy Bolters/flamers Saturday.
