I made this from gravel, craft moss branches from my yard and a raccoon spine, had some help from my GF positioning the bones and some smaller details. It's only about half the length of an aegis but it is the proper height. *Note, I did not kill the animal used here, we found the skeleton while walking in the woods near her home.

Well, that´s oddly creative... Looks pretty decent but somehow I think this is wrong xD

I'm a fan, especially with tyrannids involved. Great general table terrain too!

Even if you did kill it, there is nothing wrong with that as long as you didn't do so strictly to use just the spine (and waste the rest) as long as you followed your local laws (if any). In any case, it looks nice but it definitely looks more appropriate to pose with the nids instead of marines as their custom aegis. I just used $3 molding from Home Depot cut into the appropriate lengths for my imperial aegis lines. It's not as pretty or unique as yours though.

Works well with your nids. I suggest putting some purple on it. Maybe even sculpt a big armor plate on it somewhere? Great use of carrion. Did you keep any of the other bits?

Odd thing is, even though it's real bone I'd paint it bone so it doesn't jump out as a real life thign vs model paint schemes!

Thanks guys, I had a lot of fun making this and I do plan to use it with all of my armies as a defense line, the goal was to make something that looked like it might have existed on a jungle planet that could double as a defense line. I didn't want it to look like any army constructed it.

That is awesome! The only downside I see is that overtime the moss will turn brown - I used quite a bit in some of terrain of mine and have come to regret it. Perhaps there is a way to preserve the color - might be worth looking into it.

Kestral, paint it! Seriously, cheap decorative moss is usually dyed or painted green.

Props for artist style and skill.

But if we were to fight, I'd count that as terrain cover. You take your 4+ and you like it.

Neat!

Especially since there's a tyranid army involved. You said it was like half as long as it should be, which only means you've got to find some way to get a second spine.

I live in the middle of nowhere and work part time at a guide service.... Only a matter of time till another raccoon is found dead somewhere nearby. And my rather orbid GF may have another in her skeleton collection I could use anyway
