Hi Dakkas,

So to cut a long story short, I've decided to get back in to the world of fantasy and start up a High Elf Army. It's been many (I mean many) years since I picked up a brush. To kick things off, I started with a box of White Lions of Chrace. The colour scheme I was/trying to go for is purple trim with white main as the main robe colour, keeping metals and golds a bit darker then normal.

I'm sort of happy with my first results but there is a lot coming back to me and things to change. Some is down to technique and other is colour choice.

So far I'm happy with the purples and golds, the silver metals could be darker but I could try to throw in some more fancy blending. I like the colours of the robes but I don't think they work well as a cream so I'm going to change them to a grey/white and use the cream colour on the wood of the axe. The cloak colour isn't quite right for me so I plan to change that to a more blonde colour the same as the tail end. Besides the colours, I guess its just practice, practice, practice to get blending down (which I didn't really do) along with many other things. One thing I have done has brought some cork stops to mount the model while I paint, some Liquitex Professional Flow Aid to stop the paints drying out, then combing in that with a wet pallet.

Any tips, thoughts or crits are welcome and thanks for your time.

Finally got my second attempt done(ish), damn you life. Just need to finish off the basing. I much prefer the colour swap on the robes and axe handle, along with the new robes and gem stones.

Still trying to improve my blending, along way to go but I do feel like I'm making a small progress. Really want to get some kind of purple fade on the axe blade, but no real success yet.

All criticisms or help is welcome, oh and if anyone can link me to the page of image posting, where you can turn it into spoilers and such would be great. I couldn't find it on the faq's.

Back with another update. Damn life gets in the way to much, by the time I'm done 9th will be out . Still terrible at faces and only picked up a glassing technique from the youtube channel Colour of the God's (very helpful, go check it out). I thought I had the posing sorted before I assembled the musician, so it looks a bit out of place, also I could take a bit more time planning my base. Still, I'm happy with the outcome, and looking forward to painting the next model with what I have learnt. Feedback always welcomed.
