Hello

I was wondering if you could give your Grey Knights any colour scheme you want, I was hoping to give them a shining gold look (if that is permitted by the lore). Also since I'm new to the whole painting stuff how to I achieve a shining/gold look ?

They're your models, paint them however you like. Custom chapters are quite common and the background is intentionally left open-ended to allow for them. Shining gold instead of silver doesn't fit the Grey Knights fluff, as it's written, but you can easily call them another name while using the same models and rules.

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

Absolutly paint as you want and desire.

A friend is doing his in a Tron theme.

As for the Gold it can be hard to base with Gold. The GW Gold paints are a great color, but I have found issues with putting a strong base on them. The metallic colors don't like being watered down and can cause a thick base coat. I really like the P3 paints for basing with metallics. krylon metallic spray might work, but I am not positive on that one.
