What do you guys think? Does it seem balanced enough? I'm just concerned that I won't have much of a chance against high-toughness enemies. The Razor Standard should help out with those pesky armor saves, though.

Lords:
Goblin Warboss (General) - GW, Armor of Silvered Steel - 116 pts.

Heroes:
Night Goblin Big Boss (BSB) - Razor Standard, light armor, shield - 104 pts.

Night Goblin Shaman - lvl 2 wizard - 85 pts.

Core:
40 Night Goblins - spear & shield, netters, full command, 2 fanatics - 245 pts.

40 Night Goblins - short bows, full command, 1 fanatic - 175 pts.

5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders - short bows, musician - 80 pts.

5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders - short bows, musician - 80 pts.

Special:
Troll - 35 pts.

Rare:
Doom Diver Catapult - 80 pts.

Total - 1000 pts.

I think the first thing to ask is will your strategy be to move forward and engage the enemy or to stay back and let them engage you.

I'm not sure that troll on his own is going to be doing much and I feel like you want 3 fanatics on each of those big regiments.

What's the plan with the spider riders also?

Edit: you're also going to want a Dispel Scroll in my opinion to protect a big unit when a pit of shades or giant fireball hits them.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I had 2 possible plans in mind:

1. My spearmen bus would act as the anvil, and be accompanied by the BSB for good measure, while the troll would hang at their side and do a flank charge once they've engaged, remaining within BSB range. The razor standard will help out with dealing some extra wounds to win combat.

The archers would be the bunker for my shaman and general, while providing some light cover fire for the anvil.

Spider riders will cover the opposite flanks and guard the side lane for the Doom Diver.

2. The other plan would involve the classic bait/sacrifice tactic of launching fanatics through your own guys, but that one seems risky at such a low points level right now.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

That BSB is a bad build. He'll survive one round of combat at most. And S3 armour piercing is not good.

I'd go for 250 points of core, and max out on specials and rares. That is where OnG get most of their killy potential, especially if you exclude the savages.

Double Doom Diver, Double Rock Lobba and Double Manglers are staples for a reason. They're the best things in the book for getting points.

I have to agree with thedarkavenger. in my OnG army even at higher point levels have seen doom divers level full units of elite cavalry (their primary targets) with one shot, even two if they are close enough together.

The manglers will do a few things for you. If your opponent knows their potential, will fire everything they have at it to kill them, which is less shooting at the rest of your army. or they do what they are suppose to do and devestate a unit, either by you running into your opponent or your opponent sacrificing a unit just to get it off the board.

Its really a beautiful sight. OnG has its share of problems on the table, but have some seriously nasty stuff that no one wants to see.

So, get rid of the troll, downsize my archers, get rid of 5 spider riders, add another doom diver, add a rock lobber, get a mangler or two? What do I do about my BSB? I need one for the LD help for sure.

Keep the spider riders. need some chaff/screens. yes, get two doom divers, and two manglers. 1 rock lobba maybe, 2 if you can afford it. drop the troll. hes gonna do next to nothing for you by his lonesome. i dont know what points you have leftover, but personally i take a spider banner in larger units of night goblins to justify its cost. that may not be the case for you. if you are strapped for points, a non-magic BSB is fine, not really sure what else i would put on it.

It looks like I'm heading into the 1200-pts. range now. I'm currently at 1146, but that's without a banner chosen. If I go the Spider Banner route, I'd have to change to a regular Goblin Big Boss BSB, and that would be cheesy at this point, especially with a Goblin Warboss who's actually just a proxy Night Goblin. The Bad Moon Banner doesn't seem half bad to me, but what are your two cents?

Lords:
Goblin Warboss (general) - GW, Armor of Silvered Steel - 116 pts.

Heroes:
Night Goblin Big Boss (BSB) - GW, shield, light armor - 65 pts. (note: no banner)
Night Goblin Shaman - lvl 2 wizard, dispel scroll - 85 pts.

Core:
40 Night Goblins - spears & shields, 3 fanatics, full command, netters - 270 pts.
40 Night Goblins - short bows, 3 fanatics, full command - 225
5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders - short bows, musician - 80 pts.
5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders - short bows, musician - 80 pts.

Special:
n/a

Rare:
Doom Diver Catapult - 80 pts.
Doom Diver Catapult - 80 pts.
Mangler Squigs - 65 pts.

I don't really have the budget to add a Rock Lobber or second Mangler right now, as I'm already doing a conversion for my Doom Divers and first Mangler to fit within my own means.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Give your BSB the armour of silvered steel or something like that. He needs to be survivable.

I gave my general the Armor of Destiny, and the BSB the Armor of Silvered Steel. Now I'm up to 1194 points. What do I do with the last 6? Should I drop something to get a magical banner?
