I discovered The Troop Barracks from
Wargame Model Mods and I've always thought that it would make a great Troop Barracks/Mead Hall for my Sons of Russ. So I ordered one Tuesday and the Royal Mail was exceptionally fast this week because it arrived Wednesday! I immediately went to assemble it following the instructions included and in no time I had my Troop Barracks.
I already knew I wanted it painted in Space Wolves colours so I primed it with
Army Painter Wolf Grey then sat down and thought of which of my squads would inhabit the Barracks. After a bit I decided it would be my Long Fangs as the attached building could store their Heavy Weapons and age has it's privileges. I will be ordering at least two of the
Single Barracks one for my Blood Claws and another for my Grey Hunters. My elites and
HQ will get the
Double Barracks and then I will make some Tents for my Scouts. Then my field base will be about complete!
I still have an Old Skool Mega Paint set from Citadel and a little paint thinner and water restored the few that started to hardened back to useable paints. Doors will be Gun Metal, Trim done in Shining Gold. Highlights done 50/50 in Space Wolves Grey and Fenris Grey. Skull White and Chaos Black for Long Fang markings. I'm making the banners and flags in Photoshop and I'll post them here when I'm finished with them. I'll also be making some stencils to use with my airbrush but that will be a while as I still need a proper place to use it. Of course there will be tons of bits. This should be enough decoration as you would expect from Space Wolves but not too much as to make it look Orky!
My painting skills have gotten really rusty. I normally despise painting so I avoid it like the plague. I'm looking at tutorials for painting tanks and weathering tutorials, if anyone would like to share some links they think would work with someone that has forgotten most of what they have learned then I would appreciate it.
I'm excited to get the new table done and try out a Tau night attack raid on my Space Wolves. I'll have to flip a coin on who I'll end up playing!
