I just wanted to post my tau army so far and possibly get some cc and opinions on the color scheme. The fire warriors may appear a bit sloppy because they are meant to be tt standard.

Yes, I will try to get more pics later of the fire warriors and the battle suit. Also once I paint more I will post more updates. I hope I can get motivated to paint more. Thanks for the nice comment .

Because I was asked:

Paintwork appears to be a reasonable tabletop standard.

Photography is pretty poor.

Take photos on a plain background with no other clutter. Ensure the models are centred in the cropped image and that they're fully visible, base and all, unless you are taking a closeup shot of a particular detail. Try to ensure the whole model is in sharp focus, again, unless you are taking a closeup shot of a particular detail.

You don't need a lightbox (though it helps), but two lamps really helps in cancelling shadows and ensuring the models are well lit. This in turn helps focus.

A quick and dirty setup is a curved piece of paper (lean the back against a spray can or whatever, and weigh or tack the front corners down) with two lights just slightly in front and some way to each side of the model. This cancels out most visible shadows. It helps if your lights are the same type (daylight lamps are a help, but any bright light will do - you can adjust the colour balance later). Use a tripod to get a steady shot. If possible use the delay-shoot feature so your hands are off the camera. Do not use flash - it's better to take a longer exposure shot, or a dark image and tweak it later.

Thanks for the reply. I know that the photos are not that great, I just wanted to take a quick shot without setting anything up but I will try to take some better photos today. Again thanks for the advice and your time.

No worries.

As I said, the paintwork looks like OK tabletop (as in tabletop commission standard) work.

It's well worth never shirking on the photos if you're showing something off though - unless it's part of a step-by-step (and even then sometimes) it's backdropped for me. Just looks more professional. I actually have the lightbox set up all the time, and if I had a separate room I'd have the lights set up all the time with it. However after knocking a lamp over and breaking a £30 photographic tube bulb (glass EVERYWHERE) I now put the bulbs away immediately after a photoshoot. The extra 10 minutes setup/teardown time is worth it though.

These look nice. My only criticism is that it needs an accent of brighter colour to make it pop, maybe if the white was whiter? Just my personnel taste.
