Alright guys, just bought Stormclaw and have decided to build an Ork army and I want all custom vehicles, I want to take the real model kits I have laying around and build them into looted wagons, has anyone else done this? If so please post pictures. Thank you.

I didnt want the same truck twice. After doing the stock GW plastic kit, and the two forgeworld ones, I had to resort to conversions

First up was looted Taurox, and I really like this, fav trukk so far!

Looking at the Puppets War ork bus for my 2nd battle wagon maybe.

Wish I could say it was all my Idea... I knew I was looting a taurox, but found basically the same idea from another dakka user (sorry cant recall the name or find the link atm) .

It is made from a single taurox kit and the left overs from the two forgeworld trukk variants. (which is mostly a full trukk except the main chassis frame bit).

Theres a small square of plasticard extending the rear to allow for the double rear axles, which is disguised with some pressmolds of the plates on another trukk (You could just substitute some orky panels here no problems)
The gun nest may well be a battle wagon one ,as my wagon has all kromlech turrets on and those parts were spares.
The hardest part was making all three axles sit right with the wheels. the front two are the taurox default axles and the rear is an ork trukk one bodged to sit at the right height.
The rest is somewhat straight forwards I guess.

I use this as a Battle Wagon. I always ask my opponent if they mind before playing. If they have an issue i will play it as a looted wagon.

The Taurox is cool. However looking at it the doors seem to be a bit too intact for a looted vehicle.

I would submit that the doors are where some of the weakest armor would be (due to the seam, not so much that the thickness of the hatch is any less than the armor of the main body) and as such would be the best place for a burna or rokkit to cause damage.

Are the doors removeable? Or are the molded details?

I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from what you did, it's brilliant, however have you considered a bit more damage, as a looted vehicle will need to be KO'd before being looted.

I'm working on a looted Land Raider and have been putting damage all over that beast to show the sheer ferocity of the Ork attack. Of course I have also put many patches, rivets, and plates on it as well to show the pains to which the Meks have gone to in order for the wreck to be looted.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

The doors on the taurox are molded into the main panel... I couldve cut them out I guess. Do see what your saying, it is a little clean to be a looted taurox, unless maybe they stole it right off the factory line weathering can come in the paint though. Itle be yellow when the time comes (hence the beige primer)

The whole rear panel of the cab is replaced however... perhaps they assaulted from behind the thing.

I did three "trukks" for my Ork army (a Rhino, Chimera and Bombard) that you can see hidden somewhere in my blog. They were pretty simple, but I did try hard to make them all appear very open topped so they all ended up being kind of ute like.

See My Crazy Army plan here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/521618.page#5517409

The Taurox is the best Ork kit they ever released!

Actually, I would think the Tankbustaz would know that weakest armor point on a vehicle is the rear armor, so it's entirely possible they could have blown the back end of the Taurox clean off, leaving the front end unmarked.

Here are the first/only 2 looted wagons I've done. Not sure which SM vehicles these are(rhinos?)... but basically just took them and glued on as many ork bits as possible. Not super unique, but I'm happy with them

The one on the left is a predator kit ~ its got a sponson on one side and the top plate for predator. the right hand one could be a rhino kit, they come with the razor back top plate aswell as the closed doors.
But all kinda samey samey with marine vehicle chasis.
