I wanted to go for more movie accurate colors/weathering so I started from the ground up. Reference photos for the original are a little tricky to find, so much of it is based off another model that was done as screen accurate. It's funny how you don't notice how off details can be until you compare smaller kits against larger ultra detailed kits. Still, I did my best to get the masking correct for the greys. The green is pretty bright, so I'll likely shade that down a decent amount with washes and pigments.

Still plenty of work to do: washes, pigments, details, gloss cockpit. Haven't started on the rear engine area yet.

It looks good so far and I think some weathering will really set it off!

As far as the color goes you're pretty close with what you have. The thing that stands out to me is the pink under the red on the skirt; your red base color is spot on, but there is light pink speckling on top of the grey that shows through where the red is chipped. The stripes above the cockpit and underneath the "chin" are a darker grey than the main hull and a good match for the studio model is Tamiya German Grey (XF-63), though the Vallejo equivalent would work just fine. One the studio model, the green rounded area on the left side of the cockpit does match the one on the right. For some reason they were painted asymmetrically. The right side you have is accurate; it's dark green with grey chipping. However, the left side is the same color green what all of the chipping is a lighter green, almost like it was splashed on. If you are looking for some awesome pictures of the studio model, check these out (there is also tons of other reference photos on that site!).

In the end though, I think what you have looks fantastic so please don't take anything I wrote negatively!

I see what you mean. The round areas definitely need more weathering attention, and it's good to know they are different. The top and ramp sections are only base coated before liquid masking and I'll end up using a fairly dark grey over them after.

At this scale, masking areas off to do proper airbrushing is a massive pain, but I feel such a large vehicle would not look as good hand brushed.

I thought about doing the light pink "primer" color under the red hull paint, but at this scale decided trying to pull it off on my first attempt was just too much. Definitely something to consider for a future repaint.

I also need to practice engine glow with my airbrush before tackling the back side.

Thanks for the comments!

Got some work done on the Slave I tonight. Added some mild edge highlighting on the red and green areas, a little detail color, and a nice dirty wash to bring out the line details. Going to file down the cockpit again as the mold line is still noticeable. Not sure what I'll be doing for the back side engine details. Need to practice airbrushing engine glow perhaps.
