Since I have posted at least two threads in the last day about my upcoming army of Chaos Renegades I've decided to relegate any questions I will have to here. Comment on anything you want to comment on!
Q: Should my army be a renegade Imperial Guard Army or an army of angry Chaos civilians? (One would be full of better equip and more standard "Guard Units" while the other would have more units and they would be "Chaosy" with more psykers and stuff. ANSWERED!
Tallarn Desert Raiders Rebels:
Lore: During the Horus Heresy this small sect of the Tallarn Desert Raiders believed that their path to ascension in the eyes of their gods (it is not known if they worshiped Chaos at this time) was to burn in the virus and firebombings of the Iron Warriors. The leader in defense of the planet saw these psychopathic soldiers and though he was about to let them go to their demise (he would have liked to for believing in gods isn't exactly a good way to get yourself praised by an "Imperial Truth" based society) he knew that for the upcoming battle ahead with the Iron Warriors he would need every soldier he could get. As it could have been expected this didn't bode well for these zealots as they turned their rage upon their brothers who had captured them and held them captive till the bombings where concluded. In a three day long battle the rebels were eventually subdued and put on an Imperial drug called Karma or Calma? (I don't know exactly what it is called.) While on this they were willing to accept their commanders orders and assisted the war effort vs. the Iron Warriors, but even while on it they were known to engaged enemies on the scorching surface with barley any protective gear on in close combat brutally maiming the traitor marines in close combat with hordes of fanatical warriors. This proved... effective... to a degree as with the reuniting of their defense force (and some assistance from the Eldar) they pushed back the Iron Warriors. When these drugs finally ran out of stock a civil war broke out as the rebel guardsmen struck out in anger. While costly on both sides, the loyalists prevailed and the rebels made a hasty retreat stealing one of the last surviving Imperial battle barges from the war, "the enlightener" and fled.
But even in retreat the eyes of the Chaos Gods looked with interest upon these fanatics and sent a detachment of the Word Bearers legion to twist their loyalties to Chaos and bind them to the will of the Gods of Chaos. This proved easy for the enraged and broken down soldiers were easy prey for the corrupting propaganda of the Word Bearers. With the Word Bearers at their head these rebels plagued many a system till they had a close encounter the World Eaters legion. In fact, this encounter was so close that it took place during a boarding action against The Enlightener. The Word Bearers, understanding they had no way of possibly besting the World Eaters in a boarding action sent the Tallarn Rebels in a hopeless battle against them to buy time for a ritual of demonic summoning to take place.
What happened next is something that no one could have expected, Kharn the leader of the force ordered a cease fire and demanded the leader of the regiment speak to him. With much caution the mutated form of Lead Apostle halted the ritual to not draw the wrath of Khorne (by conducting a sneak attack) and went to speak with him. After formalities were exchanged (formalities considering this is a World Eaters warband) Kharn offered to spare their lives for a trade that the Word Bearers and their servants would have to fight along side them till a debt of twenty trillion skulls was payed off. Kharn explained that the amount of honor and courage coming from the alliance of Word Bearers (only the main apostle was conducting the summoning ritual the rest were actually fighting) and Tallarn Desert Raiders rebels had been a welcome change. Seeing a path to accumulate a Chaotic Warband only rivaled by the "Great" Abbadon the Despoiler and his Black Legionhis group of lead apostles and himself with every intent to in fact be the masters of this force (Kharn predicted this, but couldn't careless who has the pointer hat because him and his warriors only live to spill blood for the Blood God.) With quick negotiations made Kharn then bellowed in a furious tone, "Now that the treaty has been settled it must be bound in the blood of a coward!" Surprised at this sudden outburst the Apostle quickly looked at his assortment of warriors before an unexpected axe swing to the head loped it off sealing the parchment negotiations with the blood of the one warrior who had not taken place in the battle. Now they roam the galaxy praising the gods and ever eager to show their devotion with their ever growing warband of chaos worshipers.
Battle Doctrine: The Tallarn Desert Raiders Rebels prefer to use auto-guns for their unique ability when compared to the las-gun to fulfill the wishes of all of their gods as they are headed by the word bearers an undivided CSM legion. To spill the blood of the enemy warriors (Khorne), Deliver contagions directly into the blood stream of the enemy warriors (Nurgle). Auto-guns also make tons and tons of obnoxious excess noise pleasing Slaanesh (Slaanesh).Solid shot weaponry can also be enchanted by psykers i.e. thousands sons bolters allowing the Tallarn Desert Raiders rebels to MAGIC their enemies to death (Tzeentch). They also make heavy use of sentinels and lightning raids, but even in their small number they aren't afraid to duke it out using chimeras for longevity in combat.
Army Composition: Primarily made of up Rebel Tallarn Desert Raiders with a small detachment of Word Bearers leading them.
Warcry: For battle we train, for honor we fight, for the gods we DIE!
Notable Characters: Lead Apostle Ipos- Took control after the previous Lead Apostle Boliviar was AnAXED from the warband.
Questions:
Q: What starter set out of the Catachan defense force and the Cadian defense force would look more like the Tallarn Desert Raiders obviously with some conversions such as head pieces and such. Also, which one of these two kits includes the most solid shot weaponry i.e. auto-guns
Q: How do ya'll like the lore? Is it interesting enough to make a warband after?

If I knew that I wouldn't have asked :p and I just like dakkadakka to comment for if a majority of people like it I will in the long run have more fun games with the opponent enjoying the army he is playing against.
Edit: This is a personal opinion thread I'm just asking what you personally would like to see with a renegade army.

To me you're asking the same question as "which color is better green or purple?"
Its personal preference and the only one who knows what you like is you.

The evil, angry civilian mob sounds more unique. Is it viable?

I'd go with the Guard you'd be a mite bit more competitive than the civvies. Plus you'd have some awesome fluff behind the army, as a Guard regiment that got sick of the commissariat's gak and turned chaos, for example.
