Some very exciting looking stuff in that article.
Liked the sound of the new plastic modular terrain for big city battles, and the future pacific releases!

WOW!
No real interest in Great War, but the Vietnam brown water stuff looks interesting. And I suspect that the Berlin book will be a good read as well (I skipped Nachtjager, though).
I'm curious to see what they end up doing with the new terrain.
Oh, yeah, will John Kerry be included in the Vietnam book?

Bush 41 was a naval aviator. Rules for him (along with Kennedy and Ford) wouldn't make much sense.
Dole was in the ground forces in Italy, though, which is where he was wounded. The wounds, which were quite serious, left lasting damage - as was evident in some of his appearances during his run for the US Presidency in 1996.

Could also have Truman in the great war when the Americans come out. Has there been an artillery based special character before?
This is going to be a good year, the Pacific and Cold War with Plastic vehicles and terrain means it's going to be difficult to choose what to buy. I'd promised to limit myself to just one historical project this year...

Can't think of one. Though as an amusement I once wrote up and posted to the FoW forums some rules for Alexander Szholzenitsyn (he served in a sounding battery prior to his arrest).

Yes, that’s right. The waiting is over and the Pacific will finally become a reality. The December/January book releases will each have a complete range of models and will come with a selection of specific terrain.
AWESOME.

I'm super excited for the Cold War - and curious (as I posted only a few days ago) as to whether this was partly driven by the amazing Cold War mod that Mwinciboo (of this site fame) created? He/It has had no development for about a year, despite being 98% completed from what I could tell - I wonder if BF bought the idea/his services?

It's possible. But one other item worth noting is that Fulda Gap is probably the second most popular expansion-type mentioned on the forums following the surprise introduction of Vietnam (the other is, unsurprisingly, the Korean War). So Fulda Gap makes a certain amount of sense because players have been asking for it.
It also allows players to use all of those European buildings that they picked up in subscriptions over the last few years...

All the Waffletragers!
Personally I'm a little peeved that after deciding last month that plastic ISUs were not incoming from anywhere fast, I'd have to go for the very pricey heavy assault gun box, and now they ARE coming... At least I don't really need to buy any more of them, since 152s don't really interest me and I can't see myself using more than 4 122s.

Buy the plastic terrain as quick as you see it.
Those who still want European houses and forests know what I mean.
As for Pacific, I guess PSC have a 9 month heads up on some infantry they'll need to put in queue just after their Great War minis are done.
Finally, anyone giving odds that the Pacific book(s) will be Digital Only?

BF regularly does December and January hard copy releases. I'm confident that these will not be digital only. Not only would that annoy people who prefer having books (like me!), but it would also severely restrict the accessibility of the content. FoW Digital is currently only available as a tablet-only iOS app, which means that anyone who doesn't own an iPad would be unable to access the lists.

Forces of War is the "quick and dirty" version. There's no historical background or campaign information, and the lists are presented as just a bunch of checkboxes with points.
A major release like BF's initial Pacific offering is not going to be using that as the primary distribution point.

In order of my level of excite:
Brown Water Navy - YASSSS BITCH, YASSSSS!!!! And the terrain mats sound promising too.
Cold War Gone Hot - Feth, I'm going to be going on Americans AND Soviets, A-10s and Mi-24s all day, every day.
Plastic Modular Building Kits - OH HELLS TO THE YEAH! Should be perfect for FoW as well as Dropzone Commander (so what if the scale is 50% off) and AQotMF.
Great War - This was to be expected, glad to know its not too much farther out.
Pacific - Finally, won't have to listen to people cry about not having it, its about time.
Berlin - Meh, knew it was coming, hopefully that will be the last late war european theater book they bother with. Its become kind of old and stale, and I think they've pretty much covered everything they could have reasonably hoped to cover. Meanwhile Early War (and to a lesser extent Mid War) could use some loving.

According to posts they've made on the official forums, they don't quite know what to do with Mid War. They know it needs some tweaking. But they also know that the players by and large like it as is (aside, of course, from tweaks that everyone says it needs). Much of the problem is that no two players are going to agree on exactly what tweaks are needed. And if BF isn't careful, then it could disrupt the balance that currently exists.
As for Late War, yes it's done in the sense that you can play it from January 1944 to May 1945. But there are still plenty of campaigns that haven't been touched on. There's plenty of material for them to release, and I suspect that they'll continue to publish new books for the period.
Early War? As Ghaz notes, it's done. The extra lists released for Barbarossa marked the completion point for it. Unfortunately, it's also a problematic period for various reasons, largely to do with AT and armor values. And points costs that result from those. I think it's going to need another pass at some point, though that point is still some undetermined date in the future.

Looking forward to WWI to do some French uniformed Czech Legion and Berlin may have some fun stuff in it. Cold War in the 80s doesn't interest me but it may have a nice sideline as a Vietnam style game with Soviets and Afghans. Pacific will maybe tempt me to run mid war Soviets for what if Rising Sun round 2.

Now that Peter Pig have started releasing their late-war WW1 French I'll be happy to get some rules to go with them.
I'm also looking forward to the Vietnam stuff too, I have a fairly large VC force that I've never made much progress with, it'd be nice to add some new stuff to that.

Off-hand, QRF has a pretty sizeable 15mm Cold War line-up. You can start with them.
But given that the initial book will likely only include the US and the Soviets, and most of the Pact used Soviet equipment anyway (i.e. the only differences will be the uniforms and a handful of vehicles that are specific to one Pact nation or another), most manufacturers that do *any* '80s Cold War stuff will probably carry just about everything that you might need.
