Hey Mates, my brother showed me a paint scheme from Forgeworld and just wanted your opinions on how it would look on 40k Marines. Not looking for a easy way out lol, just wanted to see what you guys would think of an Imperial Fists army painted in this scheme, as the Imperial Fists are my favorite Chapter, but I hesitate going that route and stick with the Black Templars scheme is due to the fact that yellow is extremely hard to paint to be blunt, I am horrible as a painter due to lack of skill, time, and nerve damage in my hands lol. That being said, what are your thoughts and if anyone has done this scheme please share. This is a rough Idea what I was going for, but suggestions are welcome.

There is nothing wrong with that scheme. Looks kinda like Black Consuls.

Don't feel bad about trying to find a simpler scheme. That shows that you want to get good. Besides. You can always come back later on and try some advanced techniques!

Also... you should probably save all the yellow for last. Nothing worse than getting a big ugly brush stroke on your nice clean yellow.

It should be super easy to do.

Paint the shoulder pads and heads seperately

Prime the body assembly black

Prime the heads and shoulder pads white so that the yellow will be muuuuuch easier

As to is it ok in 40k? sure why not. call it a successor chapter and call it a day.

Yeah. Not a lot of yellow there, you could probably get away with a black primer spray, but on the yellow bits you will probably want to give them a shot of grey. This will help you get brighter yellows in less coats.

Love it. I'd happily use that as a 40k scheme. You could leave the shoulders and helmets off the models.

Then prime the bulk of the figure black and spray the helmets and shoulders white/grey/yellow depending on your approach.

Appreciate the advice mates. I like the scheme, however I fell that I should do something different with the Eagle and the Shoulder-Pad edges to make it stand out more. Any thoughts on what colors would work? Also have been considering Green Eyes instead of red ones.

Silver would be easiest to paint. you can do gold which wouldn't look bad with the yellow pads

Green is fine for eyes off yellow.

I think as a group that would be a real eye-catcher. Remember that your main visual effect will be figures laid out on the battlefield, not held up for close examination.
If that scheme bring you joy, use it.

If it becomes a difficulty, then throw out a lifeline in the p&m section.

Thats why I like it, as I think it would really stand out on the Table-Top. That being said, here are some other ways I could go with this scheme so tell me what you guys think:

Green certainly pops. The downside is you'd have to be more accurate with it as any mistake would show up very prominently.

I prefer the red, myself. Green makes it feel a bit too 'cold' for my tastes...

2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)

Every painting (models included) need at least 1 spot of red.
I prefer the black trim with gold eagle but this could be painted with the same yellow as the rest. However I have always struggled to paint the eagles as I tend to stick the whole model together. Next time I will try to leave the bolters, shoulder pads & backpacks til the end.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
