Hey guys.
I've obtained and painted one of the new and epic Bloodthirsters
I got bored of the standard colour schemes for them, so I decided to go with something which I have not seen much off. It also suits my overall armies colour scheme
Sorry about the quality of the pictures because they were taken with a phone camera.

The base looks really nice, how did you achieve the effect? Not so keen on the drybrushed skin though :/

"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer." |

Why drybrush such an expensive outstanding Model?
He base was done with Uhu glue and tamyia clear red.. I guess... Or pva glue mixed with red.
And why the heck do flames come out of the bloody base?

Because that's how the model rolls

I achieved the mass blood effect by putting a lot of hot glue on the base, painting it Khorne red and giving a huge dose of blood for the blood god on the base
Also as it seems everyone is against the dry brushing so far, what could i do to improve him?

I would go back and clean up the areas the drybrushing hit other spots or didn't quite cover as well as it could. (wings between the pinions, fingers etc)
Then give the drybrushed areas a wash and after it's dry go back in and carefully and lightly drybrush everything again. Should give it more depth without being too tricky to pull off.

The issue with the extensive drybrushing you did is that he's very granular-looking. At first I thought it was just photo quality but then I realized several other parts came out smooth.
He looks good as is and cleaning it up will probably take a chunk of effort but I think it'd be well worth it.

I like the color choises they work really well for the model. new, but still unmistakingly bloodthirster.
Becuse of the title, I supposed the drybrushing was more of a frost effect -I definatly got that feel from the wings.
Having tried to paint a frost phoenix, I know that is hard to pull of.
I like it the way it is, but if you want it more icey, perhaps work in layers of drackenhof nightshade and sharper white highlights.
